Topic: Meeting with someone to talk about WLS this morning......
Like Shannon posted there are tons of positive things about WLS. Most important as we all know is our health. Other positives can be different for different people. Like NSV from playing with our kids, buying smaller clothes etc.
Some cons are the risks of surgery. Just like any surgery has risks of complications. I think being mentally prepared for life post-op is a big thing!!! It's been very emotional ride for me and many others out there. Changing the relationship we have with food. Learning to eat to live not live to eat.
I could really get on a soap box on this subject. I really try hard not to fall into the category of a "reformed fat girl" who preaches to everyone. LOL.......
I hope the convo goes well.
Ash ;o)

Having weight loss surgery does not change one's bad relationship with food.
There will be a lifetime of supplements.
It is not an easy fix, but only a tool that we have to use.
I think I read that 50% of wls surgery patients(rny, that is) regain 50% of their weight back. (correct me if I am wrong)
We need to learn good habits in the postop period.
We need a good support system.
It is not for everybody.
No more diabetes, high blood pressure, no more snoring, more energy, better sex, nicer clothes, exercise is alot easier and I just feel better about myself.
And I can paint my toenails without wanting to pass out!! LOL
