Pre-surgery scale victory
As you may know I am pre-surgery and don't join you on the bench until Jan 6th. I have preparing my body and mind for this new life by changing my gawd awful eating habits before I even have to start my pre-surgery diet at the end of this month. I am happy to say that this morning I am down 10lbs! YEAH. That is 10 less lbs I have to lose after surgery!
I am eating protein first
Cut way-way back on carbs - Hello my name is Kim and I am a carb addict.
Drinking a protein shake a day to replace a meal - usually breakfast. I have also been adding a scoop of protein to my morning coffee, sort of like a mocha
Water - I have never been a big water drinker and I am concerned that will be a problem post surgery so I have been trying very hard to get at least 50oz in per day. My coworkers know not to stand in the isle between my office door and the bathroom....the running to and from is also burning more calories!
So this morning I step on the scale and it reports back to me 229. I did a want to jump up and down but instead slowly stepped off and then got back on. Yep 229 again, that sure felt good!! I am hoping to lose another 5-10 this month, I know it will be a challenge with the holidays and all but I think I can do it. I am getting closer to onderland! I leave for vacation 5 weeks after surgery - we go every winter to St. Marten, I would love to be under 199 this year... that would feel great!
Have a great day all - I know I am.

Good for you. Getting some of those habits out of the way will certainly help. You will be here soon.

You are doing awesome! Making those changes now will definitely help post-op. I think people have a hard time when they wait until they come home from the hospital and expect everything to change. It's not a magic cure, just a tool, and you are doing the hardest part already! I did the same thing and lost 28 pounds pre-op. Keep up the good work and you will be super successful!
Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement! This lightweight forum is the BEST part of OH to me! The support is amazing. The hardest part for me has been getting in the water and I know that is the most important part immediately following surgery. I am going to really try to up my H2o in December. Swishy Swashy... that's just me headed for the bathroom again!
Love and blessings to all of yo!

don't forget you can get in some of your fluids with SF jello, SF popsicles, your coffee counts as fluid as well as your protein drink. (at least with my doc) He says 64 oz minimum of fluid a day. does not have to be water exaclty (add crystal light, etc).
Anyway, all plans are different, and I know, the more water the better, so didn't want to give you an "out" but I am more the type if I can't reach a goal I quit (character flaw I am working on LOL) so wanted you to know you are probably way over making your goal every day as it is!!
Surgery date is right around the corner for you!!!

Glad to hear you're being proactive pre-surgery. I wasn't and thought all would be well afterwards - and it was quite overwhelming to try to learn and do everything I was supposed to.
You will be very successful and I'm sure you'll be at 199 by the time you go on vacation - if not lower!
