Sort of OT: Diabetes?
I'm not sure where else to ask this and I'm hoping you all might offer some insight. DH thinks I'm reading too much into it, but I just don't feel right.
Well, lately I've been insanely thirsty. It seems like I've always got a drink in my hand. I mostly drink water, some decaf unsweetend tea and occasionally a Diet Dr. Pepper. This may be TMI (sorry in advance) but my pee is clear. I know it being clear means I'm well hydrated, but it is clearer than normal. Usually, there is a faint pale yellow tint to it, but now it looks like water. Normally I wouldn't read that much into it, but it is odd for it to be clear like that. I also had some sweets tonight and thought I was going to pass out afterward. I had 2 cookies and when I went to get up I almost passed out and had to sit down to steady myself. My vision blurred, my face felt flushed and my heart raced even higher than it usually does. I thought the dizzy spell might be my BP dropping, but I checked it and it was elevated as usual. It was 148/90 which is lower than it has been lately.
Does this even sound like something I should be concerned about? I'm going to make an appointment with my doctor in the morning, but tonight it has me a little worried. Can you just develop diabetes suddenly? I was told I was prediabetic when I was pregnant with my daughter. I've been really watch my sugar intake since her birth last year, but even when I've indulged in the past I never felt like I was going to pass out.

I'm sorry you're not feeling so hot right now! You are making the right decision in making a Dr. appointment. I have seen people come into the ER with symptoms similar to what you are describing and by the time they leave they are told they are diabetic. Your symptoms sound similar to how I feel after eating something sweet that I shouldn't have. It may be something I've eaten many times before and never "dumped" on......but then wham all of a sudden I'm sick! I'd just lay off the sweets and fruit until you talk to your PCP.

I drink a ton too, and have my whole life...like ever since childhood. They used to test me for diabetes because of this and because it ran in my family, but I never had it. Also, which surgery did you have? RNY patients dump from sweets, and those sound like the symptoms. I had the sleeve and when I was fairly early out I ate chocolate covered almonds once and had the same thing happen. Many sleevers have dumping-type symptoms. I mostly avoid sweets now.
