Same ol, same ol....
I hear ya on the food boredom thing! SOOOO today, i was craving my pre op foods! SOOO, I made a post op friendly version and loved it so I am getting brave.
Pre op, (my mom owned a deli and is 100% italian so you can imagine...) I LOVED macaroni salad and even though it is not summer, I was totally craving it. it is so not WLS friendly with the white pasta and fat mayo, etc...so I modified.
I did whole wheat pasta (10g per serving of protein) and tuna (13 grams of protein per serving) with low fat mayo and balsamic vinager with some chopped in my mini chopper celery and carrots. it tasted like the real thing and I couldn't eat a whole serving so I made 2 servings and split it into thirds. I got 16 grams of protein in this one meal and it was AWESOME and tasted just like pre op!!
Get adventerous, (one meal at a time) and find some new foods to be excited about. A girl can only eat so many sticks of string cheese, ya know?
Also, I make 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder with 4 oz skim mil****il they are a paste. I add 1 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa and 8 oz of boiling water and make this awesome protein hot chocolate. 32 grams of protein and have one every night after dinner. That way even if I have only gotten 30 grams of protein all day, I just doubled my intake and got in another 12 oz of fluid!
Hang in there! you will find what works, and I WISH I was down 45lbs in 2 months! I am in my 6th week and from surgery I am down 22, BUT it is OK and I will get there in my own time!!!
