WOW, I Will Never Do That Again!! Long rant, sorry.
Goodmorning lovely ladies!!
Well, yesterday I did something that I THOUGHT would be fun...WRONG!! I posted the pic below on the What Not To Wear (my absolute favorite show!) page on Facebook because they encourage fans to post pics and show how they are following "the rules" and get feedback. Well, I knew that these jeans were not following "the rules" because they say to only wear dark wash, straight leg jeans. I have never agreed with this "rule" because I know that I look better in bootcut or flare jeans...being tall and straight they give me more balance and I happen to really like faded, distressed jeans and think they look casually chic! I do love the show but I don't always agree with everything they say and I think sometimes that make people dress older than they have to because they are pretty tradtional and they make people be so dressed up all the time. I'm sorry but there is a time and a place for faded jeans and sweatshirt! Anyway, I do like dark jeans and have been looking for a some for a few weeks and just haven't found the right ones yet. Anywho, I acknowledged that the jeans being faded and distressed wasn't following the rules but that, "I think I look freakin' awesome!" but I knew I would get some comments about it anyway but dang, I wasn't expecting to be picked apart the way I was....I'm traumatized! lol Right off the bat I got the jeans are "all wrong...need to be dark", "the rise is wrong"...lots of comments that a higher rise would look better. One lady actually said they were "just so unflattering"! I'm sorry, but WHAT?? In what way are sooooo unflattering? The only way that I think lowrise jeans are unflattering is if you have a muffin top hanging over and I most certainly do not have a muffin top thankyouverymuch! One girl said, "I'm 23 I wouldn't even wear stonewashed jeans like that...they are not flattering at all...it looks like you are trying too hard.". Trying too hard to do what exactly?? The latest one said that they would be fine for a teenager but not for a grown woman (and this is from a woman who looks more like a man, no makeup...butch haircut.). Oh, and then the shirt! One woman right off the bat told me how wrong the jeans where and then said, "the shirt is just not cute either. It's kind of 80s looking and the cuffs are weird.". Now, there were lots of compliments mixed in there too and several people really liked the outfit but sheesh, the ones that didn't were harsh. So many comments about how "dark jeans would be better"...okay, yeah, I have other outfits besides this one but why isn't it okay to wear faded lowrise jeans and a cute top sometimes even though I am (GASP), 41!?!? Sure, maybe something else would be "more flattering" but crap, I can't look like a supermodel every day! lol The last time I wore the outfit was to a bbq joint followed by a college basketball game...perfectly appropriate in my opinion. Anyway, I think I look SUPERFLY and that's all there is to it! I also wonder if maybe I was attacked pretty harshly because of the "I think I look freakin' awesome!" comment...you know, they had to "put me in my place". I think a lot of women are very threatened by another woman who has confidence so maybe that was a factor. It's so sad if it was.....
Okay, maybe I will feel better now and forget about these jackwagons!

Wow, you poor thing! I would be totally traumatized too! I've watched that show before and never really cared for how they dressed some people--you are right, too matronly!
I think you look fabulous! And let's face it, people love to hide behind a computer screen and bash other people. They would (probably) never say those things to someone's face but they are cowards and can fire things off easily at the tip of their fingers.
I say....SCREW THEM! You rock your faded, flared jeans and feel fabulous doing it!!!!!!
