The only negative comment I've received so far is from a coworker who told me not to lose too much weight because it will make my face look older.  I asked her how many obese old people she knew (not many).  Of course I'm early in my journey and am sure I'll get comments, but my patience is pretty thin so I probably won't be very nice about it.

Good luck with all that, Lucy!  Our relationships matter, so it takes a lot of work.  I hope the comments stay positive!

Wow !!  Gosh  feelings  and fur  and feathers really fly  when we talk  about our fluff don't they ?    and its only WEIGHT  !

But maybe because  we're women ...  and society  penalizes us so harshly and unfairly for carrying every extra  ounce .... weve internalized  so much and taken on so much ...and become so hyper sensitive .....

I too  have  made innocent comments  that  were  interpreted totally differently by  the  hearers than they were intended  ..... and I also heard  my own true feelings about my own  non- fat acceptance  AFTER  I finally  was able  to lose  weight LOL....

What  comes through for me here  is   Rosas  innocent childlike joy in getting back  her own  beautiful healthy  body .... and her profound disappointment that her  good friends  dont see it and share it arent  just simply unconditionally glad for her .

IM GLAD that  here , on the liteweights board , we  CAN   provide an unconditionally loving  safe place  where  all our  little Rosas  can dance  and delight ..... and make all the politically  slightly incorrect comments we want  ;)  ;) ;) .

I dont think anyone can know how they  truly feel about their  fluff as long as theyre  seemigly hopelessly trapped in it  ...and they DO have  a tendency to shame others  unfortunately and diminish their  joy  ...

Big hugs for You  brave little Rosa    lots  of love  Ava

First of all, I loved your sermons! Both of them really hit home and I can tell I NEED to find a church home to get filled back up.  I watch my labs like a hawk and take vitamins by the ton but I haven't had a dose of the Good stuff in a long time. Thanks for posting your videos.

Second, people are so strange. You did the right thing by telling them to get off your case or celebrate with you.  For some reason it seems when you're in a leadership roll of a flock, or a battalion, people think you need to be "taken care of". It's like they don't think you can handle day-to-day stuff or make good decisions for yourself. People will follow your leadership but compartmentalize you according to their own weird perceptions. They want to become the "mommy" of you. Some mommies have a mature approach and support you, but some are psycho and want to mold you and control you. Maybe that's not what you're seeing...just my experience in the military as a female officer.

If you ever get back to DC let's meet for coffee or lunch.

Oh, thank you, Gina!  That means so much.

I completely get it.  It can be really hard to focus on everything at once.  Getting healthy is holy though.  So honor that!  Now that you're healthy, you can carry that back to further spiritual development. :)

Ah, women in leadership.  Actually, I think men (at least clergy) get some of that, too.  I think the key is to be clear with people what support means, because a lot of times they couch the ways their fears play out in how they try to "take care of" us.  Actually, maybe it's a "we" - I might do some of that, myself (though I wish I didn't!)

I WOULD LOVE TO GET TOGETHER in DC!  I'm thinking about coming home the weekend before Christmas, weather-permitting.

Thanks again!

Wow! I had not idea you were a pastor!  I love your presence on the video.  They also highlighted for me how much you have changed physically.

I don't think your comments were inappropriate.  Most non-WLS surgery people really don't understand the journey.  We really should take some of those offensive comments with a grain of salt and not take them too much to heart...hard as it may be.

I'm no where near having anyone tell me I'm losing too much, so I'm not sensitive to the issue myself.

From my personal perspective, you are one of my favorite LWs.  Your inputs are always so positive and helpful.

What is life without a little drama right!  Keep your chin-up!
