Recovering from Surgery

Hi Jody,
Unfortunately, only a liver biopsy can identify NASH.  There are no symptoms, but I think rapid weight loss elevates liver enzymes also.

Sue,

Congrats on weathering the surgery. It seems like you and I are close in goal and start weights. But I'm a week or a little more behind you in surgery date. Sorry to hear about the NASH diagnosis, but if you hadn't had this surgery - you likely wouldn't have known about it. Sounds like you'll keep it at this stage as long as you continue to lose and then maintain. At least you know what you've got going on in there!

Congrats on the return to work. I can't wait for pureed foods. This liquid diet sucks.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

Thanks Roz.  My anethesiologist saved me by paralyzing me and getting my vocal cords to relax, He is definately my hero, and I told him so.

Thanks Jane.  It will be fun following each other since our surgery was so close together.  The nurse told me the good thing about NASH is that if I need a liver transplant, they won't do one if your BMI is 40+.  I'm not planning on getting to the point of a livery transplant, jeez, I did this to take care of Diabetes and got hit with something more serious.  But feeling great and enjoying my blender food:)

Hey Sue, glad your feeling well and your surgery was successful! I also have a fatty liver. It can be kind of scary but hoping this surgery will prevent it from getting worse and turning into NASH...Have a good one and keep up the losing streak

BEFORE, I lived for FOOD...NOW, I live for LIFE!
