Thanks Jane!  Will do... I've had past problems with PVCs with my heart but nothing like that seem to happen during these whole 'spells.'   I should just get in to see the PCP, good advice!

Great job John!!  Sounds like you have done amazing.

No advise on the breathing issue except you probably need to have it checked out by your PCP.

Bones are a wonderful discovery.  Do they think you will stop losing with 700 calories?  I think you will have to up it more than that to stop especially if you are active at all.

Thanks for giving us an update.

Hi John-
I just read your post. Good grief! You have lost a ton of weight in 6 months! But how have you been able to get by on only 500 - 600 calories per day??? I am not great at tracking calories, but I know I have been consuming a lot more than that. I just don't know how to lower calories and still keep my protein up. I hope you will increase yours and I agree that you should see your pcp about your breathing trouble.  It is strange that the breathing episodes do not occur at work. That would lead me to point to anxiety as the culprit too. But it seems unlikely you would have the physiological side effects of a panic attacks without the racing thoughts, fight or flight state, or mental awareness of the anxiety as well.

I am sure you will get to the bottom of this mystery. It is so wonderful that you are feeling so great in all other respects, John!  It seems like only yesterday that you were taking your first walk around your house while recovering.... and you were still trying to decide whether to tell your daughter about your surgery. How quickly did she figure it out?!  She is a lucky girl to have a youthful, healthy daddy now, while she is still so young.
Take care of the other issues. I'll be thinking good thoughts.

Thanks so much Kathy!  Seriously... feels like it wasn't that long ago and I was walking around the floor dragging my IV pole with me.  Man... it was so hot in those rooms!  I actually had a bag of ice sitting on my head and a fan blowing on me the whole time! :)  Was your room hot too?

For those who didn't pick up on it... Kathy and I actually had our surgeries the same day, only hours apart, by the same surgeon at the same hospital!  :)

You must have been in one of the rooms in the wing with the broken air conditioning! I started out sharing a double room with a deaf woman who blasted her TV REALLY loud all night and another woman with dementia next door who blasted her TV on a different channel.... so I was going stark raving mad and not getting any rest.  I was supposed to be in a single since I was a self-pay patient anyway, so when they said there was a single available FAR FAR away from the dueling TV's I said "I'll take it!"  Only problem was, the A/C was broken and it was burning hot down in that wing.  You must have been dieing down there! I actually chose to return to the TV madness rather than stay in that oven you were in!  So....in the end, I don't know which was worse, no sleep from demented TV ladies or the heat.  At least you probably melted away some pounds down there!  haha

Wow! Congrats on your accomplishments! Seriously, nice! I do not have any insight on the breathing issue, I have not had this problem. Hope you figure it out soon.

If you and our MN OH friends plan a gathering, let me know, it would be great to meet each of you in person!

Fabulous, John!  Your observations are really helpful.

And thanks for holding it down for the fellas.  We don't hear from too many on here, so when we do, it's a treat!  :)

Thanks so much everyone!  I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow morning so I'm hoping to find something out about the silly breathing thing.  Definitely have observed it happening at work and not so much at home yesterday and today.  It's probably just all in my head.  I'm taking on some additional work in my job (adding 15+ people to the team today) so maybe I'm stressed.  hah.. dunno.

Again thanks so much for all the well wishes!! :o)
