Holiday Challenge - Week 6 - November 28th
Hi Lee -- "challenging peeps" I LOVE IT!! Will I see ya Wed night?
1. Did you have plan for Thanksgiving? How would you honestly appraise how you did?
I had a plan and I guessed I followed it but in hindsight I wish I had been "specific." I think I did pretty well but I did over eat some (volume more than calories!). I did well with exercise but with all the "mixed" foods at Thanksgiving (and ALL the leftovers!) I felt like my calories were pretty wishy washy and my protein was low. I usually log on spark people daily and plan the food the evening before... Thanksgiving weekend I didn't log at all. I did go back to it yesterday and that feels "reassuring"
2. Let's look back a year. Where were you at Thanksgiving last year?
Last Thanksgiving I really had NO CLUE I would be here... I had just started a last ditch effort to lose the wt on my own (with WW) and I did well on it for a few months... so food wise I was pretty low last year but I was definietel lower this yr!
3. Are you closer to your goal? Anything that you're feeling particularly proud of?
Yup. barely... LOL I am down 3 1/2 lbs this week (well up 1 today but I know that is water b/c TOM is due tomorrow -- so I'm not "stressin." I am VERY proud of getting up Thanksgiving morning and at 9 am hitting the Y and taking a ZUMBA class. WOW! So much fun!! I also started doing the "Biggest loser" DVD's when the kids are napping. I have found when I exercise I lose 3-4 lbs a wk at this point and when I dont it is more like 2. Most importantly my energy, sleep, physical pain is VASTLY improved with exercise.
4. We're coming up on December? What can we do to keep our momentum going?
I am going to keep up with my daily food planning and my exercise. I also am going to listen at least twice a week to my "relaxation and stress control" cd. I find that I am more prone to standing in front of the fridge looking for something that I don't need because I am feeling overwhelmed. Nothing like December and being a mom of 5 to do that to a person! LOL SO this season I am not gonna let my stress become that unmanageable. I want to savor Christmas time with my little ones!
Hope everyone els is doing well! :-) Amy

Hi Amy!! You'll definitely see me on Wednesday night unless this sore throat tosses me down on the floor. You never answered (and probably never saw) my question about whether you and Megan would like any handme down clothes? I was asking what sizes you girls are in. I think I have some 16 jeans to pass on if you'd like.
Isn't it great to hop right back on plan after the holiday. That's novel, isn't it? You're so new out from surgery that you couldn't have put away very many calories, so don't fret about them. Just keep getting in your exercise and focus on your protein and you'll be just fine.
It's great to look back and see how far you've come. I actually go to WW because I want the accountability of the weekly weigh-in. I'm more concernd with maintentance than right now, but I do eat even more carefully on the weekend, knowing that I weight in Monday night. They rolled out a new program tonight that I think I'm going to like.
I think exercise is great for both body and mind. Attagirl on getting to the Y. I want to take a Zumba class too! You're doing great and it's important to recognize all of the benefits of exercise so that you'll continue to always do it.
Amy, you're doing terrific. The fact that you can stand up at all with 5 kids is simply amazing! Keep up the great job you're doing. I bet I won't even recognize you on Wednesday night! :)

Awwww thanks! I missed the post about the clothes --- but I would LOVE them! Thank you sooo much Lee. I am in between 18-20 (depending on cut) now but 3 weeks ago was in a 22 and 3 months ago was in a 26! LOL! So hopefully will be in 16 soon! I may be late on Wed. I have to work on Wed and will be coming from there so not sure how that will affect things.
As far as not being able to eat much... I have found I can graze so I have had to be deliberate about WHEN I eat... the amount is limited but if it is too frequent thats still not good!
See you tomorrow :-) Amy

Amy, you definitely have a spot in my heart. Your name amystimetoshine is so appropriate for a woman with 5 kids. I know how you've spent your years!
I have a huge trash bag filled with clothes. I don't know what size Megan is, but maybe something will fit her as well. You can try things and give away anything that doesn't work. I don't want to haul the bag up to the third floor because it's almost too heavy for me to lift and carry, so please please please remind me that it's in my car for you so that you can get it after the meeting. I don't have the trunk space to keep it in there for two more weeks so we need to make the switch. :)

Haven't checked in for a while, but this is as good a week as any ...
1. Did you have plan for Thanksgiving? How would you honestly appraise how you did?
My plan was to taste anything I wanted, but focus on protein first to help fill me up. I planned for pumpkin pie and some wine and enjoyed every little bit!
2. Let's look back a year. Where were you at Thanksgiving last year?
I was over 200 pounds, thinking of WLS and miserable!
3. Are you closer to your goal? Anything that you're feeling particularly proud of?
As of yesterday morning, I was 9 pounds under my official goal and 1 pound from my revised end of year goal. I must admit that I am a bit addicted to the scale & jumped on this morning. I was up 1/2 pound, but TOM is coming soon so I'm not going to fret about it!
4. We're coming up on December? What can we do to keep our momentum going?
Watch the scale, question what I put in my mouth ... and not beat myself up. If I chose to eat it, then I ate it. No point in badgering myself. The next bite is the next decision. I can't change the past, but I can control my future!
I love my sleeve! Whoever would have thought that the old fat chick was wearing size 4, 6 or 8? Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!

Revision from Sleeve to DS (with re-Sleeve) on 10/10/17. Slow and steady ...
I LOVE YOUR SLEEVE TOO! :) I love it because you're ahead of me and it gives me direction of where I want to go.
You did fantastic on Thanksgiving. I can so relate to how you felt last year. I was somewhere in the 240's for Thanksgiving.
Nine pounds under your goal is very impressive! Only 1 pound from your revised goal? You'll be there before you know it. I like that you have the attitude that you'll start maintaining wherever you are on New Years Day. That's a great plan.
You're so right about the next bite being the decisive one. You're doing incredible! Thanks for sharing how you've been doing. :)
