Pre-op what to expect at the physical therapy appointment
No idea! We didn't have physical therapy with my surgery. It sounds like a great idea, though.
So yes, I would think that workout clothes would be important for that.
Be very honest with your NUT about your eating habits and challenges with food. If you don't know, I'd suggest paying attention to that over the next couple of days, keeping a food log helps, too.
Good luck!

Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, I've never heard of pre-op PT before. If noone is able to answer your question here I would suggest going to your surgeons page and asking some of his previous patients what it is all about. OR you could just call them and find out what is expected. Good luck!

I've never heard of a pre-op PT appt either. My group has evercise classes but that is the closest thing I know of.
In terms of the Nut, ours were all group and seems like we filled out forms about our eating habits, diet history, etc. She explain the basic program in the beginning, then we met weekly while we were on Optifast, and with each diet change after surgery.

You rang?? :D
Can't help you much though, as I have no idea why they'd be sending you to PT pre- OR post-op without a medical problem. All I can figure is that they want you to have some appropriate exercises to do at home afterwards. If someone came to us with a prescription that read something like that, there would be a lengthy initial evaluation, we'd check posture, core strength, and strength of all the major muscle groups -- probably not much isolation unless some problem jumped out at us. Probably look at your shoes, and feet & ankles, and how you stand and walk.
Depending on if the script is for a one-time visit or for several weeks, we'd either set you up with a pretty comprehensive home exercise program and go over it throughly with you, or get you started in the gym exercising right there, and progress appriopriately each visit (and still give you homework... we're mean like that ).
You'll definitely want to wear sweats or stretchy knit pants (or shorts/capris, if it's warm where you are), and same with the shirt, something with a lot of give that you can move around easily in. And DEFINITELY good, supportive athletic shoes.
That's my best guess! Doubt it's a group thing, unless you're paying for it yourself or the doc's got some group thing lined up outside of the PT clinic. Have fun!
I found out today that the physical therapy is just a class. We just have to listen to them speak about exersice before and after surgery. They said you don't have to wear anything special because you wont be doing anything except for listening. After that class then I have my nut. class and then next week I have my dietician appointment at the WLS.
