Another post about losing sloooowly
I am 9-1/2 weeks out and still losing very slowly. I did slip up some during the long Thanksgiving weekend and it appeared that I gained 2 pounds but as of this morning I am back down those 2 pounds (but no lower on the scale). Like you, I am getting my protein and exercising. Some days I don't quite make it to goal with my fluid but I get close.
I am ramping it up with my exercise this week and trying to be really conscious of my fluid intake, hoping that will help.
Blessings,
Kat

I think at 9 weeks out 1/2 way to goal is amazing!!! Keep doing what you are doing and you will lose it all. Keep up the exercise for sure. Switch up your workouts, vary your calories from day to day. Those are the only tricks I really know to possibly lose faster. I know it feels like an eternity, but all of the sudden you will be at goal.
Not necessarily. I eat full fat everything, have since day 1 and will continue, and I lost 100% of my excess weight in 8 months. Honestly, I don't know of very many people who eat fat-free anymore. Most of the WLS people I know incorporate healthy fats into their diets and are either at goal, near goal or below. Not that I am saying eating fat-free is wrong because if it works for you then that is great, but it is definitely not necessary.
Hey chica...that's interesting. I do eat low fat/fat free because I am so afraid of dumping on fats. Do VSG'ers dump on fats?? I know in my old 'diet days' that we need that healthy fat but haven't figured out how to do that without setting myself up for dumping. I do eat full fat meats sometimes like bacon and burger patties...but that is maybe 1 time a week. Otherwise, it's all lean meats. How do you add in those healthy fats? Any suggestions would be great!! :)
Thanks....
Thanks....
Oh wow...I didn't know y'all dumped on fat. I have only heard about dumping on sugar but I don't know much at all about RNY (so maybe I should have kept my thoughts to myself...sorry!). Sometimes I forget that the majority on this forum are RNY people.
We don't dump at all because nothing is different besides a smaller tummy....everything else in intact. Isn't it the pyloric valve or lack of one that causes dumping? I could be wrong about that. lol Some of us feel bad after eating a lot of sugar and some people will call it "dumping" but it actually isn't possible. Sometimes I think what they are actually describing is lactose intolerance and they feel really sick and have a bad tummy ache which is not what I have heard actual "dumping" described as. I first read about it in Susan Maria Leach's book when I was researching WLS and it sounds terrible...sorry y'all have to deal with that.
I eat a lot of avocados (guacamole is my most favorite things in the world!) and I cook with olive oil and coconut oil. Sometimes I even eat a spoonful of the coconut oil for the heck of it because I know it's good for me. I think this is why I don't have constipation issues the way may most WLS people do (atleast it is a big problem with VSG people) and I even take a megadose of iron because I am anemic (not surgery related) so I should really have a problem. I also eat real butter, full fat cheeses and full fat mayo...I just don't eat a lot of food though.

Oh sweetie...don't feel bad...and keep those thoughts coming because it provokes some good dialog...I want to learn as much as I can too...
I am grateful for the fear or paranoid thoughts of dumping. It keeps me in check and that is why I chose rny over others...
Now, I have eaten avocado (too much = dumping I have found...ugh) so I should do that in moderation...I'll try some of that lovely oil on salads...I love salads. Now, full fat cheeses is something I can do every now and then. Great ideas...thanks sunshine!! And yes, constipation is a big thing too...that's why my ears perked up with the healthy oils stuff...
thanks again....
