starting liquid diet in a week...any ideals?
Hey everybody! Starting my liquid pre-op diet next sunday for 8 dayswhich will only be...1 scoop of unjury and juice x4 daily and 2 cups of broth....and i can have jello! Yeah!...I read where fennel or fennel seed helped with upset tummies....anyone have a recipie for broth??? Have a wonderful week all! Sherry
I think these pre-surgery diets are hard no matter what, except that we all want to get on with it so we do it and stick to it. Any specific flavor of unjury? Do you mix it with the juice or with water? Broth with protein or plain? Every Dr has their own plan so just trying to know so maybe I can be more helpful.
My pre-op diet was for 4 weeks but it was 5 Optifast shakes and 1 small food meal so I didn't have a lot of latitude to do much. We could have broth for our day before sugury and I just used boxed broth.

I didn't have to do the liquid pre-surgery diet except for a day, so I wish you good luck. If you get shaky or dizzy, please eat something like peanut butter crackers.

Good luck Sherry. I had to do almost 2 weeks of pre-op. Mine was 3 shakes a day and a sensible meal. I got real shaky after a couple of days and started mixing mine with milk and could add in some fruit if I wanted to and this helped alot. I had the Bariatric Advantage Chocolate and Vanilla.
Sorry, I don't know anything about fennel.

You can make wonderful homemade broth by buying a whole chicken or bone in chicken pieces and boiling them in water. salt and pepper to your taste and you are good to go. debone the chicken and freeze it till you get to the mushie stage and you can eat it too. if you still have a turkey or chicken carcas from T'giving, you can boil that up as well.
Good luck on your preop. Min wasn't hard for me but I know many struggle terribly. Just eat all the Jello you can in between other items on the list.

Hey Sherry, I start my 2 weeks pre-op all liquid diet next Wednesday. I love homemade chicken broth so I am going to boil a cut up fryer with some salt and pepper. I then strain the juice and debone the chicken until I can use it later on. I'll just freeze the meat. Good luck...I'm not that far behind you!
Thanks everyone! I think I will stop by the market and do some of my own broth and some in the box too...They will only let me have the unflavored unjury with 100% fruit juice and broth...but hey on the flip side...I'm on my way! This is the best support group!....Good luck Ktot34...will be waiting for you on the bench!
