Holiday Blues

I have been "caught" by the "holiday blues".  I hate it, and this usually doesn't happen to me.  I have so much to be thankful for, but still feeling blue.  Ended up with the day off, not getting dressed, not even cooking...hoping for a productive day, but nothing accomplished!!  :(

I have a nice 4 lb pork roast in the refrigerator, maybe I should just freeze it for now...till I'm feeling better.  Hope there's not too many other LWs in this boat with me this season.

Hoped if I posted the way I felt, I would feel better, not sure it is going to work.  Prayers, positive thoughts would be appreciated.

I'm back at work today, and nothing to do, but at least I am dressed.

You've got them, Jane.

And you're far from the only one struggling this season.  I remember your saying how far you had to come with your depression, and holidays are the perfect trigger to send you back a few steps.  You'll emerge from this.  You've done it before!

Maybe try to force yourself to schedule things every day that get you up and out of the house.  The bed will not make you feel better in the long run, which you already know.

Good job getting yourself up and out today!

Thanks, my depression has been so stable, it is unsettling to feel down...  I  NEVER get/got the holiday blues.

Yes, I do have things scheduled for the weekend, so I will be up and out and with friends...so I should be o.k. and lots of fun things scheduled for next week.  So it was just Wed, Thurs and maybe today that will be uncomfortable, I hope.  This too shall pass. Just use to being in a good place finally after years of undertreated depression...scary to think about it.  If it persists I will go in to see pschchiatrist and therapist.  It's probably just a brief thing I'm guessing, just caught me by surprise, and I am surprised by it.

As someone who also has depression, and is also a mental health counselor, I have to remind myself that it is okay to feel blue sometimes. Everyone has down days. It is a bit scarier for us because we know what it feels like when we continue to sink. We just need to be concerned when it lasts longer than a day or two and impacts our daily lives, otherwise, we have to learn to chalk it up to a bad day.

I hope yours is just a temporary "normal" down day and goes away soon!

Thanks, Tonia....it only lasted 3 days!!!  It is scary, because I know how long it CAN last.  I had too high expectations of myself for Thanksgiving....so much I was going to get done at home, no family committments, and did nothing, not even cook for DH.  BUT, it is over!!  Thank you for your support, and understanding.

No problem Jane!

I am a new post-op and still on liquids, so my Thanksgiving was about resting, sipping, and walking.

I'm sorry you are going through this.  It is hard.  I sent my family away and I really like having the house to myself but today is cold and rainy and I hate shopping so I am spending the day balancing the business bank account, which is months past due for that.  My crew will be home tonight and then I will wish for peace and quiet again, LOL.  Find something to do and get moving.  That always helps me get out of a funk.  And let us help when we can.

Ms Jane, I just wanted to give you big HUGS!!!!

If there is anything I can do, just holler...okee?? I have had my bouts this year with 'unmotivated' days and slight depression moments. You all have helped me tremendously through those days...

If you need to curl up and reset....do it. I don't know what the weather is your area..here its cold and a perfect reason to sit curled up in bed, drinking hot beverage, and watching your fav tv shows.

We'll be here for you!!

HUGS HUGS HUGS!!!
