I kind of find telling my body what weight it SHOULD be especially by a given date is kind of well ..... Funny .
Makes me wonder if Ure Dieting to get there .. or otherwise willing to do unhealthy things just to attain a certain number .
There are so many factors that go into a final setpoint ... like building muscle tissue through exercise ...
Im not even sure I'd WANT to lose that fast if I was in Ur shoes .... given the situation with skin elasticity and skin snapping back a bit tighter given an easier more body friendly agenda .
Fundamentally I think the whole concept of losing a certain amount by ..... is just very alienated from the BODY we all inhabit and kind of strange .....

Char, if you're like me and extremely goal-motivated, you may just need to set goals for your entire health life. I think that's the case for me.
I'll be 5 mos out on Saturday and have lost close to 80 lbs. I've worked really hard at that, and I'm young and whatever - not sure that my results are typical, and it's not a great idea to compare ourselves. Having set goals along the way has helped me to maintain the focus to work the tool while its most restrictive. I think that's especially important with the RNY.
So, I think it's a really good idea *for some of us* who've had the RNY to take advantage of that honeymoon period of weight loss and to try to pack in as much of the loss up front as possible, and then apply that same sort of focus to how we approach our health for the rest of our lives.
The key is to love your body wherever you are. That way it's not about being satisfied with meeting a goal (and not when you haven't) rather it's about doing what it takes to be healthy and well and enjoying every step of the way.
So I say, go for it!

Lots of good points...
The reason I am finally setting a goal is so I will be motivated to use every day of the "Honeymoon" period wisely. Everytime I want to go off program...I can keep that goal in mind. As long as I do my best to reach it, then even if I fall short...it's ok.
I actually need a goal because I felt great and looked great at 170. But I know for my health that I need to aim lower. I don't want to have the mindset when I get to 170 that oh..this is good enough. Having something to really work for will keep me on the right path.
I do need to set some exercise goal also. Right now I only do walking, resistance bands and Pilates due to spine issues. Hopeing that will improve as the weight comes off but realistically will probably need surgery in the near future.
I am enjoying every second of this journey!! It is the best thing I have ever done for myself...but I am most thankful that I love and am grateful for the body that I have right this second! I am so blessed and this is icing on the cake!!! So happy to be on this journey with you wonderful ladies!!!
