Does this goal sound attainable??
Hi Ladies...Happy Thanksgiving!!
My surgery is on Monday and I finally sat down and decided what my weight loss goal is.
Soooo, my surgery weight will be 220 if I stay where I am at now. I want to get down to 140 by June 1st (which will be my dd 7th birthday) It will be a huge present for her to have a healthy Mommy!
So that is 6 months to lose 80 lbs. I am saying 140 so I can have a few lbs to play around with in case of bounceback. I would be perfectly happy at 145.
My shorter term goals are to get off my HTN meds...it has already been cut in half due to the 40 lbs I have lost pre-op!! So happy about that!!
Can't wait for Monday!!!

I was down 73 pounds @ 6 months post-op @ 167 pounds. I felt fantastic at that point. I would maybe set a different kind of goal to obtain by your daughters birthday instead of/in addition too a weightloss goal. Maybe a goal that you know you can reach without a doubt. Perhaps an excercise goal......guessing at weightloss can be tricky since we all lose at different rates and I'd hate to see you disappointed at your DD's birthday because you havn't reached your goal.......Just a thought.....

I was down 50 lbs from my surg wt at 6 mo., 70 lbs from HW. Again we all loose at a little different rates, and depends on how severely you restrict your calories and how much u exercise. I have been moderate with both. Your goal could be attainable, but it does sound a little ambitious. But go for it, if you're not the type to be too disappointed if your body does not respond the way you want it too. Would hate to see you set yourself up for failure.
Good luck with surg on Monday, and be sure to update us ASAP!!

I think it is a bit ambitious...I have always been a sloooooow loser. I will set some smaller goals in the meantime but still strive for the 80 off by 6/1.
I definitely won't be disappointed though if it is lower...weighing 160 or 170 will be a dream come true!!

I think it's a little ambitious but I have seen people, even lightweights, do it. I think I was down 73 at 6 months. The one thing you can be sure about is that you will be looking and feeling FABULOUS by then!! I have looked and felt fabulous (to me!) since around 3 months out and I had lost 54 pounds at that time. Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!
I think you can do it! A challenge is a good thing. I'm a tad bit shorter than you and at around 155 things slowed way down. I'm dropping about 1 pound a week right now even though the calories in and the calories out say it should be more. You will find that your weight loss will kind of stair step and can be a little bit unpredictable. The good news is that you WILL lose weight and lots of it! :)
