OT......DD has a major WOW of her own!
First of all let me explain briefly for those who don't know my situation. My youngest daughter turned 3 in May. In July she was FINALLY diagnosis with autism. She is non-verbal and attends early childhood special education 4 days/week. She is a BIG handful most days.
So Halles' WOW was a special one for me and her teachers at her conference last night. Apparently last week while she was working with the speech pathologist she was playing with something and spontaneously without prompting counted to 8.....actually counted to 8......1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8......not just making sounds that could be interpreted as the words.......THE ACTUAL WORDS! The speech pathologist was unsure if she was mimicking something she heard on a movie or if it was her intentionally counting. They are going to take that ball and run with it though and see if they can get her to repeat that behavior......
I cried at her conference when she told me this......her teacher even had tears in her eyes.....They have been working so hard with her and had expected that she would have at lease a 5 word vocabulary at this point so this was huge!
Thanks for listening......

HOORAY!!!!! I can TOTALLY relate to your daughter's victory!!!! AWESOME!! My oldest when he was 3 years old (now 7.5) had no eye contact, didn't know his own name, etc (I'm sure you get it)) and so I TOTALLY am excited for you!! Yep, we ran with it everytime too! He still has a 1 on 1 in 2nd grade but amazing difference when they start to grasp and turn a corner.
I am totally thinking when someone asks you this holiday what you are thankful for, you will have the BEST answer!!
