I'm so happy I've found this forum
I'm hoping by viewing the posts here it can put some things into perspective for me. I have been on the RNY and Main boards and find myself comparing my weight loss to those who have much higher starting weights and BMI's. And, needless to say, it makes me feel like I'm not losing fast enough. So glad to have found you all!!

And we are happy to have you. There is a lightweight creed that is posted every so often and you can look back a week maybe to a post on how fast/slow everyone has been losing. We are a helpful, supportive group.

I'm in that same boat with you. I've been posting on another board for three months and just happened to click on a post about lightweights that told of this one. I can certainly relate to feeling like I'm not losing fast enough. My 40 pound loss is probably equal to a 100 pound loss by someone who started out at 300 or more. My starting weight was 187, but I am only 5 ft. tall. My BMI was 37. My goal weight is 120 and I have lost 40 so for, so I only have 20 to go. It's good to be among people who are having the same issues.
I think I win the prize for the slowest loser! You had surgery within just a few days of me and I have only lost 25 pounds! But, I am NOT giving up... going for a vigorous 1-hour workout in about 45 minutes. Not beating myself up when I don't do perfectly as long as it is coming off.... trying to put it in perspective, I have lost more in the last 8 weeks than I have in the previous 20 years.
I do think the lower BMI people sometimes lose it more slowly but keep going longer until their goal is reached and beyond. At least, that's what it looks like from reading this board for the last several months.
Best to you,

Kat,
My weight the day of surgery was 233 and I'm now down to 205.2 so I'm really only down 27.8 since then. I had already lost 24 lbs before my surgery date (thanks to a 2 week liquid pre-op diet). So we really aren't that far apart in what we both are losing. I started walking 3 miles a day one week after surgery and since my surgeon cleared me at week 3 I have been working out about an hour at a time 3-4 days a week. I, too, am trying to keep it in perspective. They say the slower you lose the more apt you are to keep it off. Although, I haven't been able to lose anything close to this in many, many years. Its been at least 7 years since I have been under 210 lbs. Keep up the good work and thanks for the post.
