ouchie, my left shoulder hurts.
Ok i will be one week out tomorrow and i feel im doing great. Lots of energy, my husband has been home the last week so for the last two days we did alot of walking and shopping. about 3-4 hours a day. im getting in my fluids, protien. I dont feel sick or have a fever, in fact im hungry and want to lick real food.lol the big problem is the last few days i have had horrible left shoulder pain that comes and goes. It feels like super bad gas pains that wont go away completely. I am taking nexium, my antibiotics and gas x but nothing is helping. Im just worried. has anyone else had this?
Its probably gas pains. It will work itself out - I remember about a week out it REALLY hurt and didn't know what it was, and was going to the chiropractor.
The chiro DID help - but it would have worked itself out anyway. I thought it was because I was sitting kinda ****eyed in the chair, but that wasn't it....
Sorry you're hungry - is it head hunger or real tummy hunger? Head hunger has a way of disguising itself as tummy hunger...
Also - are you taking a PPI? I feel "hunger" when its really pouch irritation - I take Prevacid and it takes care of that. Something to talk to your Dr about if you're not. For me its a preventative measure so hopefully I won't get an ulcer.

Funny to me you want to "taste" food. Everything after surgery tasted horrible to me but plain water. I wanted nothing to do with any of it. My sister came and cooked for her and my DH and it all smelled good, but I certainly didn't want any of it. I was never nausious, just didn't want food. By the time we got to pureed a few weeks later, I was ready for food and real taste.

Good to hear, Jenni!
I had lots of gas pain. Never took gas-x - get this - because I hate the name! I can be really absurd sometimes. Anyway the thing that helped my pain was to use this little massaging heating pad that I bought at Walgreens. I could massage out the gas, and it helped a lot.
This, of course, means that moving the muscles moves the gas. So keep walking and even try doing some exercises and stretches for the specific area that hurts to help get things moving even more.
It'll be gone in no time (though it could get worse before it gets better) so you should be done with this soon enough. I had the pain for a while - about 8 weeks. Hopefully yours will be much shorter!
