Hey you guys know I'm sleeved...well last night...first time in eight months I threw up my food...
I had some chicken baked....it was lemon and yummy...probably at a tiny bit more than I should and had really bad stomach pain and an hour later threw it all up...yuck...however I was always worried about throwing up...maybe my stitches would pop or my stomach would tear...whatever..it didn't...so I am reasured about my sleeve but also cautioned about eating too much dry or dense meat...A
forwarning for all for thanksgiving...I DO NOT want to spend the day with  stomach pain..
I am cooking tons of yummy food for everyone..it's so much fun cooking  now that I feel like I  have
some control...however...not to overeat on thanksgiving is going to be a challenge...how are all of you going to handle it? Its my first time with a holiday meal and I'm feeling a bit apprehensive...

This is my first real holiday meal too. I was still on post-op liquids at Easter. I have been to lots of family get togethers and cook-outs though. I am planning to eat my normal portions, and I am making lots of healthy items for all the get togethers we are going to. We have Thanksgiving 3 days in a row this week, I hope I can keep my composure and will-power going for all 3. I will be working out hard too.

I am like Jody, I put a little of everything I want on my plate, but if it doesn't taste GREAT, I only eat the one small bite.  I have been fortunate so far and have rarely overeaten to the point of pain (though I have a few times...so I know how it feels...BAD).

We already had our family Thanksgiving dinner, and I did fine, and pumkin pie was not served :(  so I didn't eat any dessert.

I am going to cook a pork roast and sweet pototoes with a 7 layer salad on T-Day,  but will difinetly plan for some pumkin pie at some point over the holidays!!

Sorry to hear you threw up - I've been very fortunate I've never done that - BUT there were times where I wished I could...

Last year was my first REAL Thanksgiving - the year before I was only about a month out, so that doesn't count.

I take small portions and put them on my plate - of everything I want.  I tend to put too much food on my plate, but I'm also good about being able to pu**** away, so I typically do not overeat, and have had NO problems turning down the pie (mainly because I dumped).  I'm thinking of baking a SF pumpkin pie this year - I think it will turn out good!

I put gravy on the turkey - because I have issues with it dry... that helps it go down easier.

I had my first Thanksgiving of 3 this year yesterday.  I did really well, I think.  I had some turkey and some beef brisket.  Maybe 2 bites of green bean casserole.  Then a sliver of pumpkin pie w/wipped cream.  Only ate 1/2 of that.  So I was good.  There was really nothing that temped me so much I just had to have it.  Now on Thursday, my MIL always gets a turtle pie from Tippins.  Yum!!!  We'll see how I do with that.  I know I will only be able to have a bite or two.

Very small portions will help me, because if I eat just a little too much, I vomit. The nausea and vomiting have been real issues for me. It has happened with food, water, and taking vitamins. I can only eat about 2 ounces for meat. I will eat the dark meat, because it is moist and I think I will tolerate it better. Later on, I may be able to go back to white meat. I plan on having "bites" of the various food offerings.

Good Luck!!!

I have thrown up twice this week and had a good bit of nausea other times... don't seem to have a virus but not sure what is up.

As for Thanksgiving, we are kind of avoiding it, staying home and working on our remodel project.  Will probably stop by the home where the feast is happening but timing it to be after they have finished the main meal.  That way, hubby can load up on leftovers and I can pick at a couple of things.

I do plan to host Christmas Day at our house but will be so busy hostessing that eating will hopefully not be a problem.  Fortunately, the idea of desserts still turns me off completely.... not so some of the starchy foods, but at leasts the desserts don't tempt me at this point.

Dry dense protein makes me sick too.  We're not going to cook a big dinner this year.  We'll eat out.  That way both of us can eat what we want.

I was 4 months post op last year for the holiday......I used a sauce plate and put 1 bite of everything on my plate.  It worked out great I was able to try everything and I was STUFFED afterwards.......LOL  I'll do the same thing this year but I may take a second bite of the GOOD stuff!  We usually have about 8 different items to choose from.  As long as I take my time I won't over do it.  I just have to remember to chew chew chew and make sure my meal takes me 1/2 hour to eat.  Although I'm on call and Thanksgiving is the overeaters holiday........so I'm sure I'll miss the meal anyway.....since people stuff themselves then come to the ER with abdominal pain then I have to do CT scans on them so the physician can tell them they over ate.....I hate working thanksgiving!......

I too have to work on Thanksgiving but we are all bringing in food.  I still love to cook and bake and I am making homemade Carrot Cake Cheesecake.  Then on Friday we are celebrating the holiday with my family.  I am not worried because I quit eating when I get full and too much sugar makes me sick.  I plan on eating tastes good and if it doesn't taste good I won't eat it.  A lot of foods still don't really taste good to me.  I think I will do fine.
I'm sorry you got sick Seaview, I think I eat too faste sometimes myself, especially when I am at work and probably do not chew enough.  I am glad now you have confidence in your sleeve that it isn't going to break!
Hope everyone has a great holiday!
