I need to vent...
I don't know if this will hel*****t, but it helps me to know what might be going on with my body. As you probably know, as you lose weight you are releasing fat-stored hormones into your system. What most people don't realize is that hormones have the same chemical structure as neurotransmitters - the chemicals in our brain that transmit information between nerve cells and are very involved in our moods. For some of us, hormone changes (like even taking a birth control pill) can wreak havoc on our moods. I am one of those people, and hormone changes can make me depressed to the point of being suicidal. Antidepressants do help, but it may take a while to find the one that works best for you (I am on my fifth different one, and finally this one seems to be the right one, but that may change as I am newly post-op and will start having major hormone fluctuations again).
I am really sorry that you are going through this. I know what it is like to suffer with depression and it is no fun. But, it can get better with the right treatment. Just make sure that you continue to work closely with your doctor and that you are taking care of yourself.

I just wanted to add, that you may need to see your psychiatrist more than once a month for medication changes since you are not doing well. Please contact him/her and tell them how you are feeling. Also if seeing a PCP, may need referral to psychiatrist...I think they are better equipment to deal with serious depression.

The posters who mentioned Guillain–Barré syndrome and/or Lyme disease may be onto something. Both are difficult to diagnose and pretty rare but quite debilitating. You didn't mention any paralysis-type symptoms so Guillain–Barré syndrome may be a remote idea but Lyme disease could certainly be the culprit and it is very, very hard to diagnose. Many laboratories send false negative results and it has to be tested for very specifically. It is certainly worth checking into.
If you have the time and resources, get to a major medical center and start checking out some of these things. It could literally save your life.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way.
