Hey lovely LW's!  I told yall I would update on my labs when they came in.........

My labs came in the mail today.  I will call her Monday and go over them.  She circled what I was low on and wrote me a not at the bottom.

Iron was very, very low!  Also she said I needed Vit. D3 IU? Not sure what that is exactly meaning the IU part?

On another note......I haven't been on much. I've been feeling so sick.  Went to Urgent Care today and I have strep

Gues that explains why I felt like I was swallowing razorblabes.......eeek!

Peace <3 WLS

YUCK!  Strep knocks me on my butt for a week!

I'm sure she'll start you on an iron supplement.......very important to take this as you can become anemic and need a blood transfusion if it gets too low!

My Vit D was low as well.....the IU is just the unit it's measured in like mg, mcg.....after I started taking an additional 2000IU my energy levels came up and my joints stopped aching....I was seeing a chiropractor but have since quit because I feel so much better!

I hope you feel better soon!

If you're low on vitamin D3, you might want to check out Vitalady's dry D3 50,000IU capsules. You could go on those everyday for 3 months and retest. If you're level is up, switch to 20,000IUs a day to maintain or as your dictate. Don't take a prescription for D because it's usually, almost always, oil-based and D2 not the dry D3 RNYrs and DSrs need to take. Also, since it's dry D3 you won't go toxic as some medical folks will tell you. Sadly, they just don't know a lot about vitamins except a little for normal folks.

Iron is similar. You want to take carbonyl and heme iron to build your ferritin and iron back up. Heme iron can be prescribed in Proferrin Forte or you can get it OTC as Proferrin ES from Vitalady or online. Carbonyl is the form Bariatric Advantage and Vitalady carry in their chewable iron and Vitalady carries it in capsules as well. This combo of heme iron and carbonyl has worked wonders for me and creates little or no constipation issues. Some folks do get constipation with the carbonyl and have opted for 2 to 3 Proferrin tablets a day instead. You just snap the tablets into 2 pieces and take them alone or with a multi...or with 300mg of calcium if you have to. Proferrin causes no intestinal issues.

I hope you feel better and good luck with your lab consult.
