Hi there-

My name is Pam. I'm 5'3" and 199 and have been thinking of having vsg done. My insurance doesn't cover it so I would be a self-pay.  :(

It's great to see that there are others around who are my size and who have successfully gone through wls.

Pam :)

Welcome, Pam!  It's great to have you here.  We have a good group of self-pay sleevers on this forum; please do count them as a resource to you!  And, of course, the rest of us are here to help, too.

Keep us posted and welcome!

Welcome. Consider appealing with your insurance. I am having VSG on Tuesday. It took a lot of effort. I was willing to pay, too, but don't give up on insurance. More policies are approving the sleeve. Someone in a seminar said, "There is no such thing as emergency bariatric surgery."

She was right. The journey gets you ready. Good luck.

Hello!  I just had surgery 3 weeks ago and it was self paid as well.  I refused to wait until I was bigger to qualify.  I had my surgery with Dr Sales Puccini in Colombia.  Where are you planning to have yours? here?

Let me tell you, so far it is the best money I have spent.  On teh bright side, think of all the money you'll save on food! :  )    I already told my husband that every dollar he saves on my meals is a dollar that goes into the smaller clothes fund.   Just yesterday his lunch cost $12 mine was $1.99. One dollar at a time, I'll be on my way to a shopping spree!!!

Hi Cindy,

We are close to the same size. What is your height?

How fun about saving for clothes!  I dread clothes shopping now! My clothing size is aroudn 18 or 20.

Im 5'0ft tall.  At my highest I was somewhere between 190-195. Size 14 (refused to buy bigger but probably would have fit into a 16).  The good thing is that I have clothes from size 8-14 in my closet nad storage, so i wont have to buy until I get close to my goal.    My goal is 110-115 which falls right into the BMI chart for my height.  If that turns out to be too small for me I will be just a happy in the medium range 113-126.
