Sparkle City: New York, New York - It's a Wonderful Town!
Hi Everyone,
It's time to hammer down the details for next week's LW gathering right here in NYC on Monday, November 22. Even if you can't join us, take a virtual tour with us now by clicking on the links!
Here's what I was thinking we could do, based on the following two things:
1. New York SPARKLES at this time of year, and
2. We're LWs, so our get-together should include some sort of physical component.
So here's what I propose we do - I just need to know what time works for the people coming Kathy & Toni were confirmed, wondering about who else might like to join us (if anyone? You're welcome to come, just let us know...)
Meet at Sephora (5th Ave. between 48th & 49th Streets)
I thought it would be good to meet somewhere we can wait inside & not get bored, and Sephora is a fun, low-key place where no one harasses the customers if they just browse.
Walk up 5th Avenue & look in the pretty windows and see the amazing lights!
I can't tell you how gorgeous everything is! The Rockefeller tree isn't lit yet (not until the 30th), but we'll be able to see its progress.
Walk across Central Park South to Columbus Circle
Since it'll be too dark to walk *in* Central Park, at least we could walk *next to* it, and it's a beautiful street.
Have tea/light hors d'oeuvres at MObar
This is one of my favorite spots - it has an AMAZING view, too, from the 35th floor of the Mandarin Oriental hotel. I will need to make a reservation, which will allow us to sit in lounge area & have our view. The menu is actually reasonable by NY standards (especially if you're not drinking alcohol) - tea is about $7 (and their tea is AMAZING!) and "entrees" (which are really nice little LW-portioned items) are about $16-23.
While we're there, we can write our card for Ava, who I believe is going to be getting married this very week!
So - does that sound ok? It involves walking a mile and then sitting and talking and rehydrating, which feels like a nice balance.
Dress would be trendy/casual, or "smart chic" as MObar's website says . I'd recommend wearing shoes you can walk comfortably in but that are still classy looking (i.e. no sneakers.) I'll probably wear something like a dress with tights and boots or a pair of skinny jeans, a cute shirt and boots.
So. Please confirm whether or not you're coming and let me know what time. I propose that we meet at 6 pm. But I'm flexible.
This'll be us. Just listen to this song or this one or this one to get yourself all ramped up for the event! Think of them as our soundtrack.
Can't wait to see you. And yes, of course we'll take pictures and post the most flattering ones.

Yeah, Girl! I'm here and I'm ready! I still have some things to wrap up today, but Halleluia for tomorrow! I'll be sitting in first class sipping a mimosa on a plane heading for the big ornament...er big apple! .... and resting my weary body. I will have to show you all some photos of what I've been doing these past 5 weeks or so that has kept me from my LW Loves. My hands can barely type this cuz they are all dried out from painting sets and *****ed with holes from sewing. Tonight is the cast party (which, yes, I am hosting). But tomorrow I will be flying off to
New York to be with two of my LW Gurls....Yes!

So we finally got our schedule for my son's Macy's Parade rehearsals: I have to drop him off at Chelsea Studios (w. 26th between 6-7th) by about 3:30 and then pick up is at 8pm. So that's a rather Grinchie twist on your proposed times. And 3:30-4ish is a terrible time to try to catch a cab to meet you guys. Any suggestions, Rosa?
