I'm finally ready for surgery
Lee and I were probably screaming at the same time. I got the appeal approval for a sleeve at 9:30 this morning. I needed the sleeve for several medical reasons. Now I know I am getting the right surgery and can get excited about it.
Did my pre-op labs at 11:00. Glad I can keep my Tuesday date, because I have dog care, rides, aftercare, etc. all lined up.
I went to Target to finish my shopping list for hospital, and found a Timex Kid's watch with a lizard band. How perfect is that? (My wrists are my only thin part). I went to the post office and mailed a 30 pound box. I could barely lift it onto the counter. I need to shed 2-3 of those. Amazing my knees and back still function carrying all that around.
Anyway, I am happy and relieved. It was a week in limbo (insurance companies still have that).
I looked for sugar free popsicles and all had sugar alcohol (2 gm). Is there a special brand or can we eat that small amount?
Long post, thanks for reading.

Oh Wendy!!! I've been crossing my fingers that the approval would come through!
I knew that if Dr. Baggs said it was your best option, that he was right. I'm so darn happy for you. YAY YAY YAY!! How great that you got to hear him speak and talk to you about it.
Now you're going to be a Sleeve Sister!!
Look for the Dreyer's brand of No Sugar Added Popcicles. I think I got them at Safeway or Lucky's. When melted they are 2 oz of fluids. I kept a glass by the sink so I could count the ounces at the end of the day.
Let me know if you need anything or just want to talk. You have my phone number attached to the emails we've been trading.
What are you going to do (besides eat) to celebrate this weekend? :)

Ate more tonight than I planned. It was my boss's birthday and someone made dinner. I sipped at a glass of Sangria all night, never finished. Had half a chicken breast and salad. Only really off my preop was some spinach dip on baguette and three bites of cake. No one noticed.
I see friends tomorrow night, but they know about the surgery, so I can eat on plan. Sunday I work, then Monday is prep day, sooooo I'm really almost there.
You have been my role model and I am so proud to be a sleeve sister!!!

I did cut it close, but I would have postponed if I had to. I spent 2 1/2 hours on the phone with insurance and found out how it could be done. The center's RN really helped. She made sure the right buttons got pushed. The real cliffhanger was that my surgeon was out of town till Thursday and had lots of catch up. He had to do a "peer to peer" discussion with an MD at the insurance.
I'm breathing easier tonight, looking forward to my spirometer. Thanks for all your good wishes.

Congratulations!!! How exciting for you! It sounds like its all coming into place and will work out for you just fine!!
SF popsicles do have some sugar alcohol, but it shouldn't bother you unless you eat a whole bunch of them. and I'm not sure, but with the VSG they may not bother you at all...

I figured the popsicles would be okay. I'll probably do several a day at first, but that will probably be okay. I'll look for the brand Lee recommended. I also got sugar free jello and pudding, both Splenda sweetened. I have not ever read labels so closely.
