Nervous!!! Been a rough morning!

My PCP failed to properly document my first 2 visits with him.  I filled out two MD weight loss templates talking about what we discussed related to diet/exercise and faxed them to him for him to sign.  This morning his nurse called and said he would not sign them.  He said it was fraud.  I burst into tears.  Babyish I know!  I've worked so long and so hard for this approval, I cannot believe that it would come down to this.  I cried and told her that I would be denied because he failed to mention the things that we talked about in his doctors notes.  I told her this will cost me many thousands of dollars, or most likely, my chance to have surgery and be healthy.  He finally agreed to sign the papers after writing "Patient derived, physician verified".  YAY :)

So after such a long road, my paperwork will be sent to Aetna today for approval (hopefully).  I am tentatively scheduled for surgery on 12/28.  My insurance changes on 1/1/11 and will no longer cover the surgery so we are down to the wire.  I am so nervous they are going to drag their feet.

Also, I have no idea whether I will have the sleeve or the ds.  Somehow it has ended up ambiguous whether they cover the sleeve for a second surgery.  They may only cover the DS.  I do not know what I want, to be honest so I am leaving it in God's hands.  I just want to be thin and healthy!!!    I cant wait to be on the loser's bench, whichever bench that is (sleeve or ds that is....)  It's been a long road.......  I'm thankful for the support on OH.

Lapband 4/08 removed 3/10.....Sleeve scheduled for 12/28/2010!!!!!!

Sending big hugs your way. Stay on top of the insurance companies. I have heard of lots of people calling and bugging and getting approvals.

I have Coresource, but Aetna is the PPO.  After going through hoops, and working on getting approved for quite a while, I called the insurance and after talking to several people, I finally got a supervisor.  She actually listened to me and because I needed to have it done this year to be covered, she was a total angel to me.  She had me approved within a week.  For me, being sincere and telling my story, I finally got someone to listen and work on my behalf.  I hope you can find someone willing help you to get you approved.  Best of luck!

I'm sorry you had to go through all this.  Between the insurance requirements and the surgeons requirements, seems like everyone would have gotten their act together about it all.  I guess that is why my surgeon will only accept his office stuff (other than 5 yrs weight historys) to go into the insurance and they stay on top of what each insurance co needs.  I'm swinging for everything to go through so you can keep your date and get your surgery before the first of the year.
