Stomach Problems

Hi Linda, I'm so sorry you're hurting.  I like spicey too but my sleeve has never been thrilled with it.  I used to eat jalapeno's straight out of the jar, now I have to mix it really well into something before I eat it.

The tomato makes me think about acid.  Have you tried an acid reducer?

I had an irritated Sleeve at three months and took the carafate for a week.  I have a good supply in case I get the irritation again.

Feel better soon.

Thanks Lee.  I had some left from last time and that is what I'm taking now.  I don't have heartburn and didn't have it before surgery.  I think I'm going to try the prevacid or prilosec and see if it helps between now and my appointment.  I'm also going to watch what I eat more closely.

With our RNY pouch, I always pictured it as higher than belly button level. Or, do people get ulcers in their intestines sometimes?

I sure hope you feel better soon. Hang in there.

I think it is higher so I don't know if this is the left over stomach or what.  It may be coming out of the pouch-not sure.
Thanks.

Late in answering you, but I am doing great!  Dr. Scott gave me a wee little stomach, so I can't fit much in, but I guess that's the point!  I'm sure, like me, you have all the confidence in the world in Dr. Scott.  Glad you have an appt. to see him to get your stomach working like it should!

Hi Linda, sorry the tummy's hurting. I have had about 3 bouts with the ulcer pain since surgery. The first time I ended up in the hospital but it was a month after surg. The second time I had the sharp pains kind of mid tummy region, after another endoscopy which identified the ulcer I have had the pain once again and take the Carafate 3x day + lanzaprazole morning and night. the dr said I would probably be on some type of maintenance lifelong for the stomach as I seem to make lots of gastric juices ?? Anyway, I know the pain you are describing sounds like mine. Hope you do well and get some relief, tomato based foods are harder  for me to digest.
Take care !Brenda

Thanks Brenda.
What are you taking on a maintenance basis for it now?
The last time it did this I had been eating tomato basil wraps.  This week I had Mexican Meatloaf, chili and Swiss Steak.  It is better now after taking the Carafate for 3 days.
Do you have acid reflux also?  I have never had it.
Hope you are doing ok now.

I take Prevacid 30mg,once in the am and then at bedtime. I had a flare up two weeks ago so I am back on the Carafate 3x day for now. I go for my 1 yr check up with my surgeon in a few weeks,so hoping to know what I can expect long term. I had acid reflux before surg but not now--

Awe Linda, I was hoping you were feeling better after your post the other day.  I think you have the right idea of watching closing what you eat until you can find out for sure.

Can you get the testing done where you live and then have the Surgeon treat it? I only live an hour from my surgeon but I had all my testing done at my local hospital.

(((HUGS)))

The nurse said I could go to my PCP and have her check it out.  I would rather go on to my surgeon instead of anyone around here.  She said if he wanted any test they could do it the morning of my appointment.

I got some Prilosec today to start taking.  It is better now that I have been watching what I have been eating and drinking.
