New light-ish weight here!
I've been somewhat active on the VSG board since deciding to have this surgery, and I've realized that some of the questions I wanted to ask would be better asked here. I'm 25, 5'1", and 216 pounds, making my BMI just over 40, so hopefully this is where I should be.
I haven't started the process yet, as my new insurance that will cover the sleeve starts in January, but I go to my information session next month, and then hopefully I'll be on my way! I'm a little nervous because of all the talk I read about lightweights having more trouble losing or losing slower, but looking at all of your tickers here at goal weight is amazing!
Just as an intro question, can anyone tell me what my goal weight should be? I plan on asking my surgeon as well, but I'm curious.
Thanks!
My surgeon didn't give me a weight goal. He just said that at a 30 BMI, I would be successful for my age (60). I think every surgeon is different and every program is different.
I'm glad you found us. Good luck on your journey and let us know how you're doing please. :)

Hi and welcome to the LW board! You ARE in the right place!
I was 5'2" and 218 when I started my journey. My surgery weight was 208 and I'm now 123. I'm also 51 years old...
Jane is right with the inf she gave you - but I see NO reason why you can't comfortably hit the low-mid 120's, if that's where you want to be. Some aim to be in the middle of the "normal" BMI range (that's where I'm at)
We have some VERY successful sleevers on this board - and will be a wealth of information for you!
HW-218/SW-208/CW-126/ Lowest Weight-121/Goal-125 - hit 8/23/09/Height-5'3"
Regain 30 lbs from 2012 to 2016 - got back on track and lost it. Took 8 months.
90+/- pounds lost BMI - 24 or so
Starting BMI between 35 and 40ish?

Check out Major Mom's (our leader) post that she started today. She asked everyone to post their weight loss spreadsheet. It should help you realize that we do lose a slower but we get to Goal much faster.

I would think you could get into the 120's. I'm 5' 1 1/2". My surgeon set his goal at 140. I need to be at 132 to be at a normal BMI. I would atleast try for a normal BMI and see how far you can get.
Be sure to take your measurements before your surgery so you can watch those numbers go down also!!
Good luck and keep us posted.
