Tomorrow I go for my 1st 6 month Dr supervised appointment.  I actually saw her in Sept. and Oct so I am going to hopefully talk her into having those count also so that tomorrows will be my 3rd month.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.  I got my paperwork in the mail with some more appointments.  I have my pt and nt. class on Dec. 1st and on Dec. 17th I have my hopefully 4th supervised diet with my dr  and then the same day I have to go to the WLS clinic for another appointment.  They said soon I will get an appointment with the psychologist. I am really worried about that appointment they say the appointment lasts 3 to 4 hours.

Keep plugging through - and take full advantage of those 3-4 hours!  That's a good sign, actually, because way too many programs don't take the psychological components of this seriously enough.

Good luck!

Don't worry about your psychologist appointment.  They are just folks like the rest of us.  I have worked with them for years now so have no fear and totally enjoyed my appointment.  We laughed a bunch.  They just want to get to know you and be sure you can handle the stress of surgery and life after.  Know why you are doing this and show your committment to change and you will be fine.

Good luck tomorrow.  I had to do  6 months of counseling or support groups.  I chose the counseling because there is not a support group near me.  I really enjoyed it and think that it has helped me on this journey.

that first phych appt is usually so long so you can take those boring tests.  I know I spent about 3 hours on multiple tests.......I'm sure you wont be meeting face to face for 3 hours......lol

You won't fail them - they're just to give the psych a sense for how you view yourself, your need for surgery, and your world.

I give a lot of the same tests (I'm a psych, but not with WLS patients... I work in the schools), so I was making notes all over the margins about "I know it's asking X, so here's why I marked what I did..." and the psychologist was just laughing his head off at me.

They really just want to be sure you know what you're getting into, and that you are mentally able to deal with all the changes.

LOL  All I want is to be healthy.  I want to stop taking over 10 different medications a day.  I want my knees and back to stop causing me so much pain.  I want to start living life like I should be with my family and I want my little girls to put their arms around me and not make a comment about how fat my belly.  I am too young to be this unhealthy.  I feel that my adult life has been robbed from me because I have been overweight.  I want to take back the rest of my life and live it the way I know I should be. :)
