Catching up with life - doing really well!

Hi all,  I've been absent from the boards for quite a while, just getting caught up, lots going on, never enough time to sit down at the computer any more.

The good news is that I am doing really well,  Just had my 9 month post surgery review on Friday.  I have lost 152 pounds so far (55-60 prior to the surgery) and doctors are pleased.  I now weigh in at 164 and the doctors are telling me that I can be done at any time.

So the question is... when will I know when I am done? My original goal weight set by the doctor was 138, now they are saying I can stop anytime... how do I stop, if I decide that's what I want to do?  I thought my body settled in after the 9 month honeymoon period.

Any advise?  I'm 5'2", 164 pounds, wearing size 12's now (from 26 a little over a year ago.)..

This surgery works !!  Thank god, it saved my life.

Thanks all.. Kim

Hi there! I think I'd stay low carb, high protein and lots of fluids. You've got a little more time to get lower and that should help you deal with any bounce back. Are you doing protein shakes? They still work for me.

You sound great and congrats on your loss.  I understand you can continue to loose for up to 18 months although it may slow way down.  I set my goal for 140 because years ago, I stablized around 135 and I figured this time I will have lots of loose skin.  I'm 5'.  Now I'm thinking I can go lower.  I'm going to let my body tell me, at least until I get to a normal BMI.  I agree with Gina, stay on program and see where you end up.

Thanks ladies.. Yep absolutely still on my protein shakes, still taking vitamins and feeling good.  Thanks for the input - will stay on the program until my 9 month appt in late January and see where I am at that time, will re-evaluate with the doctor.

Kim, congratulations on your success.  You have done a great job.

I'm further out than you and still dropping some weight.  It is alot slower.  I'm trying to get to a normal BMI.

I would probably do as much as I could while your window of opportunity is still there as long as you don't go into the below normal BMI range.

I'm 5'2-5'3 and weigh 123.  I know we all carry our weight differently, but 138 I believe is very doable for you.

Continue what you're doing.  It sounds like you've done great with it so far!  Take advantage of your honeymoon period - it gets harder after that!

First let me say GREAT job !!!

I am also 5'2, small boned. I told myself I wanted to stop at 125! My body does NOT, I weighed in at 120 Sat. am. Up until now I have been able to stay between 121-123...Not sure where the 120 came from. I feel like I have done better with eating a little more. Amount wise of real food protein, I don't do alot of carbs, but some...and I am adding a little bit more of fruit and veggies in when I can. So why I have decided to drop again, who knows...My Dr said our bodies will end up where they should in the end IF we eat the right things. I guess, my body well make the decision for me......I just don't want it to go much lower!!!

Just keep up your protein and drinks!
