??bounce back??

Okay...........I have read several posts today about bounce back.  I have never read anything about this before today and you all have me scared.  I am not at my goal yet but am close, I am at the high end of a normal BMI and want to be in the middle so need to lose about 10 more pounds.  I am 5'7" 153#.  Today I am 8 months post-op.
How much weight do you usually have with bounce back and when does it occur?  What else do I need to know about it?

I think it's very individual. For me I gained about 3 pounds back after maintaining my lowest weight for a few months. My surgeon first mentioned it and told me I might see 5 pounds bounce back but actual regain (if I have any) wouldn't be until 5 years post-op or so. (I threw everything off when I had to add hormones, so I won't go into all that).

What I learned from Vitalady was that it is possible to maintain very very close to goal but you have to stay fairly low carb, keep your vitamins and labs right, drink protein shakes, drink your water and stay active.

Thank you Gina.  I have another question also, sorry to bug you.  When I had my 6 month labs drawn you recommended some vitamins, one was tender D3.  I ordered it from Vita Lady.  I don't understand the "tender" part.  Tender iron makes sense to me but didn't know about the D3.  My supply is almost out, just wanted to ask before I reorder.
Thank you.  Sandi

It's just my brand name, sorta.

The Tender Iron was first and named acordingly, very mild. The Tender just stuck, so it's on everything. Actually, just about nothing I offer would hurt your tummy, unless you're sensitive. Zinc is reputed to be rough, which is why I only offer small doses, but taken with food, it's ok.

I went about 8 lbs below where I ended up. I had no exact goal. It jumped around 14# up, back down, leveled out at 18 months at the 112 I maintained pretty steadily until I got into bed with sugar. 3 regains, years 5, 8, 11. Does that mean I can only be smart for 3 yrs? Looks like, huh?

I've been under wt 3 times, at first, when I had diagnosed vertigo, so my world spun for nearly a year, and then when the world crashed down around my ears. None of them related to my actual WLS, like being sick. I just "feel" things in my stomach/pouch. Always did. Bad day in school, can't eat. TV show upsets me, done eating, like that.

But really, in 16 yrs, 3 stupids and 3 filed under "other" isn't bad, huh?

Um, not bad at all!  :)

Michelle, it's great to hear from you.  I've been thinking (and praying) a lot about you and your DH.

Most of my time is spent taking Don to/from docs, picking up rx. Today I spent fully 1 hour to straighten out a medical billing thing. since our ins changed mid-stream, one provider didn't have the new info and had been billing the old, but of course, we were not covered after 10/1 on that policy. Ahh, if only we were. No choice, no such kinda policy any more. LOL

But the thing is, considering that he was paralyzed for a few days, taking him to/from doc appts and having him be able to walk, even with cane, is still more than we had even thought possible. It'll be along haul back to semi normal.

Prayers are still very much appreciated. We've had a few more set backs, one step forward, 2 steps back, but we are going forward. I guess my fatigue/stress must be quite visible since even some of the providers are asking me how *I* am. Not good. I am eating, taking all I'm sposta, but still, I guess it shows. I love aging right in front of the mirror while I brush my teeth, KWIM?

Thank you Michelle, both for the info on the"tender vits" and your expereince with regains.  I find it helpful to hear what others have gone through so I know what to be aware of and to watch for.  You certainly are a success story especially for the long term.  I have been very happy with the products I have ordered from you.  I found out Saturday I have GERD so no more products with even decaf coffee, I loved the cappucino protein powder but alas cannot have it anymore.  Does the cinnamon vanilla one have coffee in it?  I tried a sample of it because Gina drinks it and I like it also.
Thank you!

IDS Vanilla-Cinnamon has no coffee flavoring or caffeine or anything. It's good stuff and flexible for other SF syrups and spices.
