Welcome to the LW Boards.  I had to do six months supervised weight loss with a doctor and also six months of counseling or support groups.  I did get to count my diabetes classes and management as my six month supervised weight loss because I went every week and had my BP, Blood sugar and weight documented.

Get your insurance company to send you the requirements in writing so there will not be more surprises later on.

Good luck on your journey.  I sure hope you can count the other two visits as part of your six months.

Welcome!  I'm sure your frustrated, I would be, but at least you've started your journey.  Your not just sitting around thinking about starting it.  Hopefully they'll consider you starting in September then you'll only have three more months to go.

WELCOME!  You are in the right (BEST) place!!!   I started my WLS journey on January 9th, 2010 and had surgery July 19th, 2010.....It really did fly by and everyday I research and prepared and it really helped me!  Overall, I was very happy to have that "waiting" period!

Stay on course....it will be SO worth it!!!

Welcome Kim!  I understand your frustrations!  My insurance company (Health Parners) required I go through a 12 weekly phone meetings with them before they would even approve my surgery!  They needed to recieve notification from my surgeons office before they would start and they LOST my referal paperwork which they didn't tell me until I started questioning that took almost 2 extra months!  BUT that time flew by and now I'm over a year out and it seems like just yesterday that I was even contemplating surgery!  You will love this forum and find alot of useful info and great support here!
