Happy Sunday all! Just wanted to say thanks, it has been a week since my last post, and I took your advice and kicked the last demon to the curb. I figured Dec 13th will be my new birthday and I wanted a clean slate, so I kicked the beer! I'm getting awful excited, but I tend to over stress. I am packed, have my jammies and a slippers for the hospital, Gas X strips and liquid tylenol, chapstick and the new gastric sleeve book for reading. Any other suggestions? You guys are the greatest! Beer will be the last thing you are thinking about after surgery but good for you.  I stopped all alcohal and caffine when I started my pre-surgery diet (4 weeks of Optifast).  I am drinking decaf coffee and tea but haven't missed the other.  I got a glass of wine at a party and walked around with it all evening, tasted it 2x, never drank it.  Another victory!!
In terms of the hospital, I took a bag with all that stuff and never opened it until the day I was getting ready to come home.  Don't take anything valuable, I did lose a watch that was in my bag.

It's Dr Alvarez's book the Gastric Sleeve. I have been waiting for about a month and saw here on OH that it is available. You can also see it on Endobaratrics.com as well!

Excited, Excited, Excited,Excited....I can't hardly wait for the 13th of Dec.  Feels like waiting for Christmas did as a little kid... I am so grateful that Jesus is providing a way for me to fix this condition once and for all.  I too have bought all of the necessary hospital stuff..Gas x, liquid tylenol, books, signed up for netflix so that we can download and watch on our laptops.  Hadn't thought about chapstick, will have to add that to my bag of goodies.

Personally, I packed all of that and went home in what I came in. Only used my toothbrush, hairbrush and chapstick. I did not want to go online, I was too busy walking. I am not sure about your hospital but not sure why you would need the tylenol, I was on a morphine pump and then transferred to Lortab liquid.

Good Luck to you

How exciting! Congrats. No other suggestions - I don't think I took much with me at all...

Congrats on kicking the beer. That can be a difficult thing to do but very necessary.

Congrats on kicking the beer!!  My demon was diet coke.  Haven't had one since about 3 weeks before surgery.  Don't really miss it either.
I couldn't read anthing right after surgery, if I had I probably wouldn't remember what I read.
Good luck and keep us posted.
