Update on Whiney Baby

I saw my surgeon Thursday and he didn't think my pain was anything to do with my gastric bypass and wanted me to get a cardiac work up.  I didn't feel like it was my heart but the pain came back
Thursday evening so my Internal medicine Dr. told me to go to the ER.  Everything was negative for heart attack and friday they did a nuclear stress echo to check the heart for blockages or damanges.  I walked on the treadmill 11.15 minutes to get my heart rate up to the target rate for my age.  The two techs said I did better than the 2 men my exact age that were in that day.  They scanned my heart before and after the exercise and the test was negative.  I was so relieved, I didn't feel like it was my heart but my dad died in his 50's and had triple bypass when he was younger than I am...so it has always nagged at me.  Today they did an EGD to look for a stricture or ulcer etc.  They determined I have acid reflux and need to be on pepcid twice a day.  I hear heartburn pain can feel like a heart attack and mine hurt really bad..
So all in all I feel happy, I have greatly reduced my risk factors by losing weight and my heart is in excellent shape!  Just wanted to let everyone know!  Thanks for everyones concern and well wishes!  Sandi

My dad died at 49 of a heart attack so I know where you are coming from.  Glad your heart is healthy and strong and you are right, your weight loss will be a big plus for your heart to stay in great shape.
Start that pepcid and feel better.

Thank you Maria!  It made more since to me it was reflux and you are right, it is easily treated.  I was thinking about anything I had been doing differently and I started drinking these protein coffees, I used decaf but I read today on some sites even decaf can cause problems.  So I guess I won't make those anymore, LOL.  Thank you!

Sandi...I'm so glad you found the ailment. My hubby suffers from GERD real bad and he cannot even drink hot coffee of any kind since its something in the bean and the way its processed that bothers him. So, he drinks lots of tea...he love Chai flavors...

And...my dear way to show up the heart test there...that is a nsv and a wow baby!!!

HUGS to you and glad you will be feeling better soon.

Thank you Diana!  I will have to check out the Chai tea.  Do you know anything about avoiding iced drinks with GERD?  They put that on my discharge instructions and I guess I was too loopy to ask why.  I always add a lot of ice to my crystal light or vitamin water or protein shakes.
