This has got to stop. I have been nauseous for all of this week, on and off, and end of last week. Sick and tired of it.
To boot, my psych meds were not refilled and just got them, over a week off them.
Was in a craft store yesterday and had to leave run outside and throw up. This is getting rediculous.
Back to cottage cheese, soup and yogurt.  I can drink premier shakes fine, but now the about time shakes make me sick.
Eggs...nope... off my list, tried 2 times  that is it.
Thank god I can eat crackers.
I am down in weight... but not fast. I am now 161

Kristen,

If you were off your psych meds, especially the effexor, you may have been experiencing withdrawal effects. Withdrawal from effexor causes nausea, muscle aches and pain, "electric shocks" in the head (similar to an ice cream headache) and other flu-like symptoms. If you have been experiencing any of these symptoms, along with the nausea, it is withdrawal from effexor. Once you restart the effexor, you will start to feel better.

You are early out so nausea isn't unusual.  It only takes 1 bite to many to cause it.  My surgeon put me back on my Prilosec after surgery and that helped.  I am 2 years out and I still take it every day and I notice a difference if I miss it a couple days in a row.

I still can't eat eggs.  I ate a lot of soup (especially bean/bacon). I couldn't drink shakes for about 6 months but keep trying them because your tastes will change.  I still can't mix mine with milk.  I have to use water and I can't make them thick.   I mixed unflavored or chocolate  protein in practically everything I ate (soups, puddings, jello, oatmeal, hot chocolate, crystal lite, etc.)

Gail and Roz you are so right thank you for the encouragement.
Gail, you know so much about me, your dead on with what is going on.

I just found a phenegran in the medicine cabinet.. that will help for tonight. I am sure when I see you tomorrow, I will be better.. or hope so.

This weak feeling is just getting me down, once the psych stuff kicks in I will be better

Hang in there!!  I had TERRIBLE nausea and couldn't eat much at all....I remember feeling like such a failure...especially when you would read other posts about people doing so well and having it so easy!

I remember thinking, "I am  NEVER gonna feel good again"....but I did!!!  It WILL pass...just hang in there!!

Keep trying new foods....don't give up!  I did alot of soup, cheese and crackers, and protein drinks.  I could eat 1/2 a scrambled egg really well but I added a lot of butter and cheese to it!

Sending hugs and good thoughts!!!

I'm so sorry you are going through this.  But it will pass.
You are just a month out.  Get going on your psych meds again.  Be sure you are getting your fliuds in.  Try some different ways to get in the protein, like adding it to soup.  Try some oatmeal, stick to the things you know will work.  You can do this.  It isn't a marathon, it is journey, take it at whatever speed it come to you.

Hi!  Sorry you are feeling bad.  I too had nausea but I didn't realize it was nausea, I just didn't feel like eating and nothing tasted good, i would eat 1 bite and YUK!  I thought maybe this is just how I am going to feel now.  My DH, bless his heart did some reasearch and I was having dehydration which caused nausea and it was a vicous cycle.  Once I was getting ALL my water in my nausea subsided.  It was hard to drink because of the way I felt but when I got the fluids in I actually felt 99% better.  Don't know if this will help you but thought it won't hurt to share.

Hope you feel better soon.  Have you talked with your surgeon??  It could be all of the things everyone has already listed.  Maybe your surgeon could give you some medicine for nausea or ideas on what to do.

I went through a terrible bout of nausea for awhile.  Someone suggested trying hot peppermint tea, and it worked wonders for me.  I'm not generally a hot tea drinker, but now, whenever I feel a bit nauseous, I make myself a cup and sip at it, and it always helps.

The other thing to consider, as Roz mentioned, is trying a PPI such as Prilosec.  Sometimes that can help a lot, too.  I have to take a Prilosec every morning, and sometime a Zantac later in the day, but they keep my tummy feeling good.
