Hi all - new here
Hi everyone,
This is my first post. I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 6th and I keep cycling through the emotions of panic, excitement and denial. I'm glad to have a date, but I'm finding the wait hard.
I am trying to lose as much weight as I can before the big day. I am feeling a bit anxious about Thanksgiving. My family will be here for the long weekend, and in addition to the feast, we tend to eat out a lot. I am also worried I will have the "last supper syndrome" where I think this will be my last Thanksgiving dinner before surgery.
Anyway, I'm trying to keep it all in perspective.
I'm so glad to have found you guys.
Mary

Welcome! Glad you found us. We have all been where you are right now and totally understand. Your date will be here before you know it! By the way, that's my daughter's birthday and two days after my birthday.
Do your best to keep under control, most pre-ops have the last supper problem. Just remember, the lower you are before surgery, the safer the procedure will be and the less you will have to lose afterwards.

Hi Mary! Welcome to the LW Board. Congratulations on your date - it really will be here in a blink of the eye. Until then, take one day at a time. When you have all of those Thanksgiving tempations, just remember that you are shooting for something better - a thinner and healthier future. Eat whatever you want, just try portion control. I definitely did a Last Supper - with my surgeon's support. I didn't go crazy, but I had a nice dinner out with my husband with lobster, wine and dessert. Just a way to say Goodbye to the old fatty!
I look forward to hearing more from you in the days to come -

Mary, Welcome to our LW Board. We are glad you found us too!! What kind of surgery are you having and how many pounds do you want to lose? You need to make a ticker. I like ticker.com. Don't forget to take Before/After pictures and to take your measurments. I kept the outfit that I wore to the hospital and I love trying it on once a year.
Unless you are required to lose more before surgery, I think you are putting way to much pressure on yourself. Most of us had the "last supper syndrome" and I don't recall any of us regretting it. Enjoy Thanksgiving and your Family.
