Tough Day -- Vent

I'm on the road again conducting training in Los Angeles.

We had a group lunch with the whole class...a pre-set menu.  I ate an appropriate portion of chicken.  The chicken laid in my stomach for 2 hours.  Finally at 2:30, I threw up.  I went to dinner with a friend.  I was feeling better so I thought I'd try something easy on the pouch, soup.  That didn't work.  I wasn't able to keep anything down including water until 8:00pm.  I relied on my sure-thing...a nice protein drink once I got back to my hotel room.  So far it is staying down well.

This has been the worst I felt about my food and my tummy since having my surgery.  I think I'll avoid chicken for a while.

I know things will be better tomorrow.  I just feeling down today and don't have anyone else besides my LW buddies who understand what I'm going through.

Thanks for letting me vent!

I'm sorry your pouch is being picky!  Is this a recurrent problem you're having?  If so you may want to contact your surgeon as you could have developed a stricture or slight obstruction.  I hope you feel better and enjoy the heck outta that shake!

I'm sorry you had a rough day!  One thing I've learned about this surgery is that there is NO rhyme or reason to "good eating days" and "bad eating days".   I hope it was just a picky pouch and not a virus or such!

Hope you feel better and have a better tummy day tomorrow!!

Chicken was always my go-to food. I found tons of ways to prepare it. All of the sudden, I couldn't tolerate it at all. It lasted a couple of months, I tested the waters and got sick about once a week. Now I am able to eat it again with no problem. The only foods that bother me now are broccoli and cabbage. Too gassy I guess.

Geeze, I sure am sorry this happened.  I keep waiting for something similar to happen to be but so far, everything I have tried has been fine.  I wonder if having a cast iron stomach pre-surgery helps post-surgery?

Sorry you had a bad pouch day.   I think our pouches like to show us who's boss every so often.   Cindy

Sorry you had a rough day, especially when you are on the road!  You are right, sometimes I think no one really understands what we go through!  Hope today is a better day pouch wise!

Thank you to everyone for all your support!  I'm feeling much better this morning.  I'm still going to take it easy on the pouch this morning and stick with my protein drink.

I'm promising myself that I will not "settle" for the pre-selected meal today.  I will disengage from the group and eat solid protein that is compatible with my pouch.  I can tell you that it won't be chicken!  LOL

Pre-op I was a big fan of the chicken.  Post-op, my pouch hates it.  I thought it was because I was drinking too soon after eating dense protein, but after yesterday, chicken is off the menu for another couple of months.  Funny how I don't have issues with beef or pork.

This incident just reinforces who is in control here...my pouch!
