A reasonable transition
Now that I am 8 months out (today actually!), I've noticed that I need to make a transition, AND it makes complete sense at this point.
Observation: I can eat more now in one sitting than I could just a couple of months ago. I remember bringing 1/2 cup of chili for lunch....now it is 1 cup.
Based on this observation, I realize that the 6 small meals a day thing isn't the best choice for me. If I stuck with that system, I would be eating twice as much as I was a few months ago.
So, I'm going to try to eat less often and get that comfortable fullness 3 times a day....with a tiny snack inbetween.
I notice those further out eat this way.....true?

I agree. I noticed that as well too. I noticed that on the M&M's I was racking up the calories and I was getting nervous. So, I am doing what you are observing and that is to eat more "meals" and less snacks...unless its carrots, fruit, etc since the fiber is what I am shooting for too...lower calories and they sit fine in between meals...
Congrats on your great accomplishments so early out too!! Yay....

Yep - and its GOOD you realized you need to change your eating. I kept eating the 3 meals and 2-3 snacks... and then wondered why I was GAINING. Ummm - DUH! Cut back to 3 meals with maybe 1 snack if I have to and it works well for me. I also make sure what I do eat is very dense based protein... it helps keep me full longer.

I'm in the three meals a day club and at 8.5 months out, I can definitely eat more at one sitting. I made chili in the crockpot on Sunday and need 1 cup to keep me full for awhile. It's kind of scary to be able to eat more. I too try to eat dense protein at every meal and hope that it keeps me full.
I think I'd like to eat three meals a day with 1 snack of an apple or a protein shake, depending on my numbers for the day.
My surgeon yelled at me for even a string cheese snack. He said that now it was 1 string cheese bu in 5 years it would be much more if I got into the habit.
I guess he may be pretty smart after-all. Heck I knew he was brilliant. :)
