my big clothes are comforting

On days like today when I am tired and it's raining and I am feeling insecure...I seem to like to get out my size 14 jeans...which are toooo big on me ( i'm a loose 12 now)..and belt them and just wear them...they make me feel secure and cozy...they are like an old friend...of course a better friend because they are big and baggy but anyway....I sometimes get so tired of the whole thing...the vitamins....the exercise...the constant food monitoring....the water vigilance...all of it...it's not a mood where I want to throw it all out and stop doing it...which in the past I might do...spend the day eating mindlessly and watching tv...but rather it's just A LOT of work keeping after this sleeve!.
You guys know this...anyhow that's how I feel today and guess the loose clothes let me forget and relax a bit....does anyone else feel like this sometimes? SEAVIEW

I thought i was the only one  attached to a piece of clothing. I have an old flannel shirt that is a size 3x in mens , it is huge. I have had this shirt for about 25 years. Wow it's a antique. When  i'm feeling down or sick or cold  i drag out the (shirt) It's like a hug from an old friend. What we do is so much better than turning to food for comfort. Keep up the good work and save room for me on the losers bench.

AWE....better turning to some old clothes than something else.  Me...I would grab a cookie.

I'm sorry you feel this way.  I don't know much about the VSG so honestly I don't know how much work it is, but maybe someone else has advice that can make things easier for you.

I know I think about my RNY from the time I get up in the morning until I go to bed at night, but I don't ever think of it as work.  It was hard for me when I was trying to get my Protein in through food but now that I only count Protein drinks for my grams and I can eat what I want it's super easy.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

For me, it's my winter robe. It's a dark green fleece wrap, and it's a size 22. I currently wear an 8. Yes, I'm lost in it, but it's so snuggly and warm, I'm NOT giving it up!

I know exactly how you feel.  but I think it is better to hang on to a piece of clothing than eat our way through insecurities, so I say.....hang on to whatever piece of clothing makes you feel better!  I know I am.....     Joan

RNY on 05/03/13 with
after reading ur post Seaview, i had an "a-ha" moment
i totally understand how u feel. i know for me, if i start wearing lets say " jeans" that fit perfect somedays i feel like i didnt lose anything. but if i wear my baggier jeans that i belt
(like today), then i feel like ive accomplished weight loss. another twist to what u r talking about . also ,i agree.... it is a lot of work working our sleeve , but at least we r making progress with it cuz it was just as much work with out the sleeve , and most of the time i never saw progress. and if i did , id gain it right back in time

see ya lighter,
