Re-Commitment to Clean, Healthy Eating--

Every so often I like to make a re-commitment to my health along with clean, wholesome eating.  The carb monster likes to get in the way of my eating plan and having a clean healthy eating mantra helps me get through each day.

Anyone with me?  Maybe we can check in weekly.  We already have the daily menus but perhaps a discussion on trigger foods and  how to work around them would help?

Hi Kelli,

I'm with you!  Right now, I'm doing really well with this, with one creeping exception:  I can see the bread monster rolling back into my life.  Granted, I only eat a few bites, but it's so readily available in stressful moments when I want to munch on something.  Right now, I have it under control, but I could imagine it not being so another time.

I think I'm better off not eating it than trying modification.  At least for a while.

So that will be what I commit to!  No bread for the next week.

I hear ya---bread is a tough one and its easily accessible in so many settings.  I'm an all or none kinda person--one bite and then its another and another.  If I leave it alone completely and not touch it---I do far better.  Not sure if thats realistic--but it keeps me "clean".

I'm with you Shammy...I got into  the jelly bellies yesterday...yiiikes...what was I thinking...I actually think I got sick from them...an hour or so after I ate them I got sweaty and shaky and did not feel good..too much sugar for me...I am working on the last 8 or so pounds and really struggling...
I work out lots and still eat under 40 g of carbs and only protein and it's really hard because my body gets weak and I feel like I have to eat...I don't always choose the right food...so yeah...I will get rid of the c...y and stick to healthy food ...protein protein protein....I guess I have no real trigger foods I have trigger times...when I  don't make good choices.....I was never a trigger food person...
I think making a list of options of things to have when I feel the need to eat is something I could do...
also writing my food down every day....I stopped doing this awhile ago and it is really not a good idea for me...so that's my thing for today...Shammy we can do this...let's clean it up...I would be happy to check in regularly and have an ongoing dialogue about trigger foods and times...SEAVIEW

Oooh, sounds like you were dumping on the Jelly Bellies.  Ouchie!  Yup, trigger times.  I can totally relate to that.  Those stressful times at work when I just wanna grab for M&Ms!  Well M&Ms are no longer an option and channeling those frustrations has been very interesting.  I honestly didn't know what to do without food.  My job is relatively stress-free so this frustrating moment happened back in October and I was at a loss for a lil bit--journaling food or moods is a great way to keep things in perspective.  I, too, need to continue journaling everything I eat.  I'm great during the day to do it but at night its a whole 'nother story!

can't dump because I have a sleeve...so I just actually got sick from the sugar...yuck...
anyhow I am ready to face my protein only day...bread is no longer and issue...i chew and spit out sometimes when it smells way too good...but I can't swallow it ...it hurts my stomach...SEAVIEW

Ooooh, I didn't know that VSG'ers don't dump!  That's a good thing! I'm almost a year post-op and I have yet to dump but I haven't tested the waters yet either.

I'm with ya! Clean eating is where it's at! I get so disappointed in myself when I snack on crap. Accountability is good.

Yup, I agree.  We can eat such small amounts of food that I would like to consume healthy organic food items that are of a great quality--not junk food that is overly processed--ya know?
