Denied!!!
Wanted to post this over here on the lightweights as well as the vsg board. I'm so upset and dont know where to turn. Here's the post:
My insurance company, CIGNA, has denied me a revision even though I've met all the requirments. They say that I cant prove that I've adhered to the post op diet plan from the band. Well duh, that's why I'm having a revision. I cant tolerate any fluid in the band, cant keep anything down if it has anything in it. It's not working for me!!!!!!! Now I'm heavier than I was pre band and I feel totally helpless. My doctor is going to do a peer to peer with the medical director. If they still say no I dont know what to do. Husband will not let me pay out of pocket, especially since the band didn't work and we paid ourselves for that. Plus I'm still "stuck" with the problem of my esophageal spasms. Feels like I'm having a heart attack and I've ended up in the ER twice over the last three years. They've never diagnosed it as that but one ER doctor nentioned it in passing since all my tests are negative for cardiac problems. So I guess I just have to ignore the pain and HOPE that I'm not really having a heart attack!! I cant' stop crying right now. I HATE insurance companies. Guess I just needed to vent to somebody who would understand what I'm feeling right now. I haven't even told my husband because I know he wont be sympathetic, he'll just say, "well, diet and exercise". Please pray for me that the peer to peer will be successful. Has anyone out there been successful with one of those?

I'm so sorry, sweetie. I hope the peer to peer will get the info across. You can't go on like this.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. I can only imagine how disappointed you must be. I hope that you are able to obtain all the records for all of your fills etc so that you can appeal their decision.
I hope that you can get your spirits up and know that this is not the end of the road for you.

Oh no! This sounds like a nightmare.
But you have options. Remember that.
Have you checked out the Insurance board? I hear people get all kinds of good advice over there.
It's not at all uncommon to get an approval after an initial denial. Just breathe and plan, breathe and plan.
You WILL get through this!
But for now, it sucks, and I get that. So I'm sending hugs your way - feel it?
