Is it possible to still be hormonal postop mess?

Good morning LW's,

grumble, grumble! (@#$!!!!)

I was feeling so good and for the past several weeks, and now I am just a cranky hot mess!
I had my period last week, and now this week I feel like I have wicked pms!

I do not care for being negative, it does not suit me well.

I saw a pic from halloween and it put me into tears. How can I look so fat still after losing 67 pounds! The weight is coming off slower, work has been crazy and my 14 year old has been a pain in the pattuttie!  My 13 year old is not doing well at school. The dog has been throwing up once an afternoon.  Got a hair cut and my hubby said, oh, if you like it, then i like it. Not what I was looking for.  Fighting with kaiser, will not pay a substantial part of my hubby's kidney stone surgery and now the anesthesia group has turned me into collections!!

It has just been a heck of a week!

Now my pouch is grouchie, I am concerned over the gnawing sensation I am having. Thinking about switching from the pepcid prescription to prevacid or prilosec. I also am experiencing alot of restriction. I have had to drink most of my protein, not able to eat alot. Really trying to push the fluids too.

Just feeling so cranky! How can I go from feeling so good to feeling like a trainwreck!

Thanks for letting me rant. I guess my plate right now is kinda full. Maybe I should go to yoga twice a day! It's my only escape at this point.

Wow! You do have a lot going on, and yes, hormones can still be at play for you...not to mention just plain old stress. Hang tough. It sounds like you're doing the right things.

I think with all that going on, I'd be a grump too.  Sorry it has all hit at once.  No wonder your pouch is complaining.  But it sounds like you are getting your liquids and protein in and relieving stress with yoga.  67lbs is great and it will keep coming off.
39 yrs of marriage and my husband has never said anything about my hair.  I can come in with a perm, different color, whatever, and he never acknowledges it in anyway.  Maybe that is part of why we are still married after 39 yrs, VBG.

oh, Maria!  Big hugs!

It could be hormones, it could be that you have tons going on, it could be a combo of all of the above.

I totally get what you're saying about the pic.  Of course, I haven't seen it, but I know what it's like to see a picture (or reflection) and still feel like "WTF?  I've lost all this weight and ____"!!!!  The key is to have the frustration and channel it to fuel your drive you to your goals.

Here's a suggestion of something that is working for me.  Start wearing tighter clothes to yoga so that you can really see what your body looks like.  Look at it without judgment, but rather evaluatively.  Note the things you might be able to work on, and then, systematically, target them.  You will see results, guaranteed.  You will never see all the results you want, guaranteed, too.  But there will be gradual changes, and when you really acknowledge where you are, you'll be able to see all the progress you're making along the way, even as the scale drop slows, which, of course, it does for every one of us.

You are doing totally amazingly, Maria.  And, like others have said - this, too, shall pass.

Here's hoping that's very soon!

Maria....I wish I would be there to give you a big (((HUG))).  Do you have a local support system you can lean on?

You have done a wonderful job losing weight and you have done it in record time!!   I remember thinking I looked pretty good when I hit my first goal of losing 75 pounds but then when I looked at the Disney pictures..I looked FAT!   Not obese but Fat!!  You've only been at this about 4 months girlfriend...don't be so hard on yourself.

DH's can be Dumb most of the time or maybe he realizes that you are not yourself right now and he wanted to make sure he gave the right answer...LOL

I had a terrible time with 1 of my DD's when she was a teenager.  The teenage years can be very stressful.  I finally had to get outside help.  I was worried that it would look negative in her future or she would hate me for it but getting her help was the best thing I could have done for her and us. She is thankful now that I pushed all the feelings of failure and shame aside and got her help.

I can tell when I miss my Prilosec a couple of days in a row. My tummy is upset and I have a lot of restriction.  All of the stress you are under is probably doing major havoc on your pouch.

(((HUGS))))

Roz

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Thanks Roz!
I think I need to get out and get some prilosec, because it is a weird feeling and dont want to end up with an ulcer.
I have been going to counseling with the 14 year old, but I think we need some family intervention to get us on the straight and narrow.

Maria,

You are allowed to rant anytime!!  Sorry for ALL the troubles you seem to be facing right now, but sounds like you are hanging tough. You are allowed to feel cranky from time to time, though I know I doesn't feel good.  You'll be back to your old self in no time, and things won't seem so bleak...you'll handle each problem in the best way possible!!!  Until then, I'm pulling for ya!

I hate weeks (or months) when life happens! We are having quite a bit of stress right now too. OK, back to your stuff...

After surgery my period was a mess for awhile. It was coming every couple of weeks, lasting for a long time, etc. You could actually be getting ready to start again. Also, hormones are stored in fat. As your body burns fat, the hormones are released. This can definitely cause some hormone issues.

Major stress=physical symptoms. Your grouchy pouch and major restriction are probably a direct result of your stress right now.

Kids are a$$es, lol. My 10 (almost 11) year old is being a major hormonal brat right now too. We love our kids, but dang sometimes they drive us nuts! My 7 year old has sever ADHD and has major ups and downs. She tries really hard to get C's, and the hormonal older child doesn't try at all and gets all A's. Maybe counseling would help. Even if you went to counseling alone to help deal with the stress. Also, I take advantage of stress and work out really hard. It makes me feel better and I burn some major calories when I am stressed.

And as far as the picture, we are our own worst critics. Until very recently, I still saw a fat girl in the mirror. I still do see the little bump of loose skin when I wear something tight, etc. You will see it eventually. Try to focus on how your clothes fit, etc.

Sorry so long, I hope everything calms down soon! Sending big hugs your way.
