Menus and Miles Thurs. Nov. 4th
Good Morning:
Did not wake up at 3am today- but bright eyed at 5:30--- a good thing!
Did not make my late night protein drink snack last night - as too full from chilli dinner.... oh well- still hit a good protein total
NOTE: I'm 9 mos from surgery day as of tomorrow. I've lost about 70# (it flex's!)
I've had a few weeks where following a stomach virus, I've struggled to meet my protein/cal intake and get any exercise in due to extremely LOW iron and B levels.
This is being addressed and I'm feeling much better and more energetic again.
I happened to catch a radio show on my way home one night -- It was with a specialist on post WLS protein and recovery... ( I WISH I could remember his name - )This specialist recommended for those with severe hair loss to take at least 5000 mcg 2x a day of Biotin to make a difference. The Biotin doesn't prevent hair loss, but encourages healthier hair growth. He also recommended post WLS, a nightly protein dose before bed and a multi vit at that time too. This dose / vit gets a chance to "sit" in your system as you sleep - better allowing absorption. I've been trying this and boy o boy- what a difference I've seen... I've got more energy, my food intake is leveling out better (so my bloood sugars are staying level) and my head is full of little fuzzy new hair growth..... (all grey -- but it's hair!!)
Today's plan:
(decaf)
B: 1 hb egg, 1 cheese stick and 10 mini pretzle sticks (14g)
S: 1 small apple, 1 cheese stick (7g)
L: Serloin & veggie lettuce wraps, 1/4 c yummy rice (21g)
S: 1/2 c cottage cheese & mandarin orange slices (15g)
S: Greek Yogurt in car on way home as dinner will be late (15g)
D: 1c. Home made beef stew with veggies, 1 cheese stick (27g)
Protein target: 99g
Vitamins - on track
Water- on track

Thanks for the info!! I sure a lot of our newbies are running out to buy biotin. I used it and Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and the amount of hair I have now is crazy. I didn't have this much even before surgery. Every time I see my stylist she says it is seems to thickin before it grows. I've been having to go every couple of weeks just to get it thinned. I haven't taken biotin for over a year so it must be because of all of the protein, vits, and eating better.
Great variety today!!

Awesome totals!!! Are you going to be alone or spending time with the grandbabies? I would really like a weekend of me time just to finish the book I started months ago.
I mix mine with water. I don't mix anything with milk. It seems sweet to me so I mix it with the chocolate most of the time. It's great with the SF syrups too.

DGD#2 is spending the weekend with me. It has been planned for a couple of months. Her parents are going out of town. I've been alone since Wednesday and he will be back Monday I hope!! I think I would like a weekend alone also, but since I already promised to keep her and we will have a good time.
We are getting their(DGD1 & DGD2) Christmas pictures made tomorrow so that will be interesting.
I think I put too much water in the cookies n creme. I put a 16.9 ozs water bottle and some ice also and it was pretty watered down for one scoop. I'll have to experiment with it. I missed my Lemon Tea though.

I put 1 or 1/2 scoops in 8 oz. of water plus a lot of crushed ice that melts some on my way to work.
Enjoy your weekend! Grandma should get in one of the pictures too!!!!!

WOW...to have just a little of your height would be an answer to Prayer. I have grown about 1/2 inch since surgery according to my seamstress.
Do you post your menu on OH, fitday.com, or dailyplate.com? What kind of totals do you aim for?

Haha...I would LOVE to give you a couple of inches Roz! I think 5'9"-5'10" would be the perfect height because then I would feel comfortable wearing heels...at 6' I never wear heels because I don't want to be 6'3"-6'4"! lol
I only post it here and the only totals I aim for are to get my 46 grams of protein from my shakes and then as much as I can from food and to drink 64+ oz of water. I haven't kept up with anything besides those things the whole time. It has worked so I haven't felt a need to but if that changes in the future I will definitely do so. I feel very fortunate that this has been very easy for me and it feels so normal that I almost forget I have had surgery.
