question about weight loss on the two week pre-op
I am on day 9 of the diet and lost 9-10 lbs very quickly, then for the past 3 days I have stuck at the same number. How much can a lightweight expect to loss on the pre-op? The doc said to expect 10-20 lbs in general and I just want to make sure I am doing all I can to make the surgery as safe as possible to stay a lap.
Yep, I lost 8 pounds and stalled out...stupid metabolism and thank goodness for WLS!

Every person is different and every pre-op diet is different.
I recommend you stay away from the scale for awhile. As you have your surgery, you are going to see ups and downs. You'll be getting IV fluids. You may be bloated as your TOM my change. You may even hit a stall. Focusing on the daily fluctuations of the scale are only going frustrate you.
Focus on staying on your program before surgery. After surgery focus on walking and sipping. When your doctor tells you add vitamins and getting your daily protein to your focus areas.
The weight will come off. We didn't gain it in a month and it won't all be gone in a month.
Good luck on your journey!

Hi,
I didn't have a pre-op diet. I had to lose my weight and maintain the loss before they would schedule my surgery. I knew that if my weight went up from my surgery goal, they would cancel me.
I just wanted to wish you luck with your surgery!! :)

Hi, my surgery is the same day as yours. I'm on a the two week liquid diet also. I've lost about 15 lbs, and have eliminated 3 of 4 diabetes medications. Yahoo. If you are sticking to the protein shakes, etc., you will be fine. Before I started this pre op I thought, "there's no way I'm going to weigh myself everyday", ha, I find myself weighing every morning and being disappointed if I haven't lost anything. I'm going to move the scale out to the garage.
Thanks for all the advice. I am not worried about the weight staying the same and the scale is not how I determine how well I am doing. My face is getting thinner and the hump at the back of my neck is almost gone. I was just wondering whether I should expect to lose the higher end of the range when I don't have as much to lose as some other people who have the surgery.
