...and I was totally out of my element. lol  I had a great time and it was wonderful to meet Nicole "Legacycl", share dinner and listen to her interact with the support group and Dr E's dietitian. Let me tell you guys, Nicole is one smart cookie...there's that food reference again.

Also wanted to report that "marriedmom", Barb, got out of surgery yesterday afternoon and is doing well. Her surgery took a little longer but she's fine, last we heard. I kept telling her we were swinging LW lizards for her.

Recipe from last night:

Sugar-free Cranberry Sauce
One jar Smuckers SF preserves, any flavor -- suggestions Orange Marmalade, Blackberry, Raspberry or Cherry
One 12-oz bag of whole fresh cranberries
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup Splenda Granular

Empty the preserves into a heavy saucepan and cook over medium low heat for 3 to 4 minutes until preserves soften and melt. Add the cranberries and cinnamon; stirring constantly while mixture comes to a boil over med high heat, cooking until berries begin to pop. Reduce temperature to low and simmer 15 to 20 minutes until sauce is glossy and thick -- and cook 5 more minutes before removing from heat to cool. Transfer cooled mixture to a covered bowl and chill until ready to serve.

Makes approx 2 cups

Good morning! I've been thinking about attending my local support group. But it's 45 minutes away near my surgeon's office, and I go to bed so early lol.

I hope today is not so busy. Dr appts the last two days, lots of school work, kids have had activities, plus DH is on overtime, so I am doing it all as a single mom. I have class this morning, then I'm coming home and not leaving my house for the rest of the day. I plan on sitting in my sweats, working on homework, and catching up on the LW board.

Good Morning!

My WLS support group at Kaiser is tonight.  It's the first Wednesday of the month so the post-op meet in a separate room from the pre-ops for the first hour.  That's when we get to really "talk" because we're not supervised.    They don't want us talking about things like snacking in front of the pre-ops because it's not on our program, but let's face it, not everyone eats 3x a day with nothing in between as their plan calls for.

I'm sure we'll be talking Thanksgiving and how to plan for it when we meet up with the pre-ops who are all on the 1200 calorie a day diet.

At least on the post-op side of things, we have a better fighting chance on the holidays.  Our restriction helps keep things on a small plate.  I plan to eat enough turkey that I won't have room for much else except 1 bite of cranberry sauce, 1 bite of stuffing and 1 bite of potatoes.  I'll take along my calcium chews for desert.  :)

Gina, thanks for the update on Barb.

That recipe looks good.  I will probably try it for Thanks giving this year.

Another day at work!!  Atleast it is half way over now.....(Actually I'm very glad I have a job.)

I think the one in Chantilly is this Monday night and we meet at the Texas Roadhouse at 5PM just off of Westfields Blvd. If they're planning something different, I don't know about it yet. Umm...we sat at the Roadhouse last time and talked right through the meeting. lol

The next Dr Elariny group is December 7th.
