Thanks so much, everyone.  BookFaerie, I have copied and printed out that link.  It is very helpful.  I love your screen name, also.  Our entire family loves books!

FWIW, and hating to sound like a broken record (cause I've expressed my displeasure lots of times LOL), I think 99% of so-called "nutritionists" are complete idiots.  But I digress.... :D

There's no reason to go to bed hungry though!  Cottage cheese is actually supposed to be a great after-dinner snack that'll fill you up, keep your metabolism going through the night, and I've read where it's actually supposed to help you sleep better, although I can't vouch for that.

 Katrina,

My plan calls for eating 3x a day 4-6 hours apart with no supplements at all and no snacking.  At 6 months i told my surgeon that I have a string cheese for a snack and he told me to knock it off.

I had to decide whether to follow his plan and decided that for now i will have one protein supplement a day.  it's really the only way to get in 80 grams of protein without stuffing myself.

Find what works for you.  i told my surgeon that I was going to continue with 1 protein shake and that I wouldn't lie because then he couldn't properly doctor me if he didn't know what I was doing.

"So, I guess I have to go to bed hungry for the next several days."

Or you could ignore them and do what works for you.

Whether or not you get your protein from shakes or solid food or a combination of both is not a medical issue. It's a matter of personal preference and opinion. Some people do really well on the shakes (I still have one for breakfast most days and I'm over 2 years out) and some do not. If they work for you, it's not really up to your surgeon or NUT whether you have them or not just like they don't get to decide if you are going to have salmon or chicken for dinner.

P.S. A stall is when you don't lose any weight for at least 2 weeks in a row. So you can't be in one because you lost a pound.

I  just  have to ask U though -  why are U having regular chips    ?   They are the  kind of empty  largely fat calories that made us  big enough to qualify for wls  in the  first place .

U Dont malabsorb a THING .    At least  have them fatfree ( there are  fatfree pringles potato chips in an walmart made with olean -  they taste just like the real thing ) These are what I weat when i get  the urge for CHIPS  and nothing else will do  - but they are still high carb  and high glycemic index .

a far BETTER  snack is air popped popcorn  ( i like to toast  the whole bag first when i get it for taste  until it start s popping and turns brown - then i let it cool and put it back into the jar)

Its a whole grain-  a handful (  like 200  calories ) pops up to be a whole potful and U can snack away merrily every night in front of the TV  and never wear the evidence  ( i do  and im  125  lbs )

We have to remember  that the honeymoon period is only 12-18  months .  These surgeries are  NOT  a radical  solution that allows U  to lose 100 %  of Ur excess weight  - only  rigorous lifelong DIETING  and exercising will do that.

Developing  Sloppy food   habits now virtually GUARANTEES  U will  be among the average bariatric patient statistics  - which  are 200 lbs needed  to lose going INTO surgery -  and  only 46  lbs lost 8  years later .

I know this sounds harsh .... but  its very TEMPTING  to  sneak  bites of this  and bites of that early out  ... and it WILL  stop Ur loss .   It sure stopped mine in its TRACKS  .  I had a a heck of a time  getting any lower after 5 months  and a few weeks of bufets ... so learn from my bad example if U can...

The chips are gone... out of my sight.  I had no snacks last night and it all went well.  I had cottage cheese with roasted red peppers as a late afternoon snack, about an hour before I left work.  I did do measurements this morning and I have lost 1 inch in the bust, 2 inches in the waist and 3 inches in the hips in the last 3 weeks so  something IS working.

Thanks for all the advice and concern.  You keep me accountable and I NEED that.
