Holiday Challenge - Week of October 31st

Hello Everyone!

For anyone who's new, this is about challenging ourselves, not against anyone else.  Where would you like to be when we ring in the New Year?   For some it might be a weight goal, or an exercise goal or maybe you're in maintenance and learning how to deal with that over the holidays.  Your goal can be anything you want it to be.  Let's all support each other in being our best selves and cheer each other on.

My Goals:
1.  To be anywhere under 156 which is a stretch since I've been shedding 3-4 pounds a month.
2.  I want to be wearing a size 10 or anything smaller.
3.  I want to see a smile on my face as often as possible!

After being stuck at 170-171 for 2 weeks, I finally saw something that started with 169 this morning so I'm claiming it.  I'm now 20 pounds from my 100 off and it feels like it's suddenly not a million miles away.

How did you do this week?  Are you getting closer to your goals?  How are you feeling about the holidays,  Halloween in particular since it's today?   I'm not going to any parties and I'm giving out money if kids come over so there's no temptation.   My treat today is a long hike this morning followed by a mani/pedi which will make me feel much better than a candy bar.

Have a good week everyone.  Let's push forward as we enter November.  Two month and counting......

I have resisted the Halloween candy thus far even though they had it all over the office.  As for the rest, not so good and I am (I think) officially in a stall now.  No weight loss this week.  I did eat out a lot more this week due to being out every night instead of at home...this is not usual and not something I plan to continue.  Worst of all, I have an appointment with the surgeon tomorrow and I wanted to be down more pounds than I will be.

However, setting goals is a great idea and I will play:

1.  I will be 90 days out just before Christmas and I want to be down at least 35 pounds (this will require a LOT of work).

2.  I want to be working out 5 days a week instead of 2 (I don't count the walks I take on my own).

3.  I want to be comfortably down to a size 14 with room to pull out the waistband, etc.

4.  I want to get more physical work done at home as our endless remodel continues.

We will travel around the city tonight to catch all 3 grands in their costumes but I plan to consume NOTHING while we are out excep****er.

Thanks for starting this thread, Lee.

Katrina, look at that cute picture of you!  Did you have fun seeing the grands tonight?

Don't stress about your appointment tomorrow.  You've been doing great.  You're going to get to your finish line.

All of your goals are terrific and I bet they help you stay focused.  I'm glad you want to play with us!  :)

Lee, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! on breaking into 160's. I know that was a long time for you, but I am always looking to you for your perseverance.

I have my surgery 11/23, so holidays will be decided for me. Clear liquids for Thanksgiving, with lots to be thankful for.

I start my liquid preop on 11/09. Goal for the two weeks is 8 pounds.

The hike and mani/pedi sound perfect. I work today and plan to ignore any "treats" left around the store.

 Hi Wendy!

Your surgery is so close!  You're right, you won't even give Thanksgiving a second thought and the December holidays will come and go without you even noticing.  You'll be so focused on getting in fluids, vitamins etc.

You've picked good goals.  Tell us how we can support you.  Will you be having surgery in Berkeley?  Do you have people to visit and look in on you?  You'll be close to me if you need anything.

Thanks, Lee. My surgery is in Oakland. I have a friend who will deliver me and pick me up, what ever day I'm released. I have one day approved for hospital, but may need another day or so. I hope I get to stay till Thanksgiving, so there will be no traffic going home. We'll see. I have everything covered, unless I have complications, but I do not plan to have any, since I have faith in my surgeon and my decision.

Best support is all the posting here. Positive and informative.

Wendy, I'll email you my cell number in case you need help with anything while in my neighborhood.  You probably won't need to stay more than the one night.  I haven't known anyone that actually wanted to spend a second night.  Home is so much more comfortable.

Lee, congratulations on the 169!!

My goal is to be at the goal I want.  I met the surgeon's goal last month, but want to go lower to a normal BMI.  Not really positive where I want to stop.  It has really slowed down so might take a while, but that's ok with me.  Atleast while I'm still trying to drop weight I pay attention to what I'm eating.

I have not done good with the candy.  I need to get it out of my house.  None so far today!!!

Thanks Linda.  I'm so happy to kiss the 170's g'bye!

It's so cool that you've met your surgeon's goal and can really focus on what you want and how you feel.

Step away from the CANDY, it is NOT your friend!   I hope you made it through the day.  Get rid of the dang stuff tomorrow.

Well I almost made it through the day.  I had 3 whoppers late last night.  That was better than I did Saturday.
