Hi,
Good to meet another vegetarian!
I would love to exchange ideas with you. My email is [email protected]
I have been a vegetarian since having WLS--I am going on 6 years in December. My oldest son is a vegetarian and I always cooked vegetarian for him when he would visit (he lives in Brooklyn, NY) However, other than cooking for him, on visits, I had no experience. I knew I needed some protien so I turned to cheese for that, and I eat legumes which are a protien for me. I do eat fish when I either buy it or we go out to eat. I have bought a few good cookbooks that I use once in a while.
My husband is a meat eater at every meal. I have managed to cook for both of us with my serving eliminating the meat. If the weather is nice and we're grilling we will grill eggplant for me, or mushrooms.
I don't why, but after my WLS I couldn't do meat anymore. I couldn't handle the texture of it, nor the taste of it. Fish I do fine with, but meat I don't. I also can't eat eggs anymore, again for the texture reasons. I've tried tofu, but I don't like the taste and I have tried it cooked every way imagineable.
Hope to hear from you.

I love cheese. It binds me up too. Early out I ate a lot of it and do think it contributed to a weight loss "slow down", so I reduced it - plus the binding wasn't fun either!
I don't like the fat free stuff either. We still need some fat in our diets.

Hi Toni,
You're doing awesome! And sometimes these little gains can be from any number of sources. We've had different surgeries, so I can't say that it's apples to apples, but do know that I, too, eat full fat cheeses! I just eat so little that I don't think it makes a difference. (At least it hasn't so far.)
I can't stand the lo or no fat cheese. I won't even touch it.
