Natural Peanut Butter...Mistake??
I ws getting a little sick of the shakes I was drinking a decided to add some flavor. I put about 2 tsp of natural peanut butter in and mixed. The peanut buttter seemed safe, it had 5 grams of sugar so I figured it would be OK. Well.....about 10 minutes after drinking it I felt really sick, I didn't vomit but felt like I was going to then I had to lie down for about an hour. I felt a little shaky and just plain awful. After about an hour I felt a bit better. But when I got up this morning I had problems " from the other end" What the hell did I do? Was it the PB or just a fluke?
Bless your heart! I don't know what happened but I hope your tummy recovers today!
I use natural peanut butter all the time (usually just on crackers) and have never had a problem.
I've learned that when it comes to LOGIC and the RNY, all bets are off! I have little setbacks like your episode quite frequently and you NEVER know what will cause it!! I've given up trying to figure it all out!!
Hope you have a great day!

Well, it is maybe too early ti add the pb. I remember trying the same thing about 5 weeks po and got a sick sick feeling and I used the natural pb. also. That jar is still in the cupboard but I do eat regular pb now with no problems.
It really is trial and error sometimes.Hope today is better.Brenda

Sounds like you dumped to me. I couldn't eat peanut butter for the longest time. You didn't dump on the sugar, but on the fat. I think a lot of people forget we also don't tolerate fats well either.
Leave the PB be for now - you'll be able to eat it again later.
Now - there is a product called PB2. Its a powder peanut butter. You mix water with it to make it a paste. I use this when putting PB in my shakes/drinks. Low calories, sugars and fats. Its online though....

Thanks for all the replies. I think you are right and that it is too soon for peanut butter. I also checked the fat content am embarrassed to say that it was really high. Thought I had it all covered, guess not. I do feel better today. I learned 1 good thing...I will never try something new if I am not home. I would have been screwed if I had been at work! (I am pretty sure they frown on napping!) I am almost 4 weeks out and have had a pretty good time of it. Just have to remind myself this is a journey full of learning!
