First consultation tomorrow!!
I am so excited for my first consultation tomorrow!!! I made appointments with 2 local doctors (I believe in always getting a second opinion) and cannot wait to ask lots of questions and get some really good information. I have one appointment tomorrow and one next Friday.
So excited to get the ball rolling, especially after this awful week of trying on Halloween costumes made for size 2's! [I threw a temper tantrum yesterday in the Halloween store - how embarrassing!]
Anyone have any good questions for me to ask the doctor? As most of you know, the bf has lots of medical/nutrition based questions, but what about general concerns? Advice would be appreciated!
Wish me luck :)

Good luck to you! Here are some questions I think are good to ask just off the top of my head:
1) What type of surgery would you recommend for me and why?
2) How many surgeries of that type have you performed?
3) What are your complication/death statistics?
4) If you are considering VSG surgery (like me) ask what size bougie he/she uses.
5) What is the length of hospital stay?
6) How much time off from work will I need to take off?
7) What other restrictions will I have with surgery?
There are others I can think of, but they are specific to surgery types, and I'm not sure which you are considering. Don't be afraid to ask anything. Read, read, read everything you can about the surgery type you are considering. The more you know, the more pointed you can make your questions.

Good luck with your appointments.
I saw two surgeons also for consultations. They both told me the same thing.
I would also want to know how many surgeries they have performed.
Do they have any complications that they see over and over again. How many people with strictures(if you are considering RNY)? How many people have leaks after their surgery? Have they had any fatalities? It might sound weird but I wanted to know these things and sometimes it is not the surgeon's fault when something happens.
What do they require prior to surgery. The surgeon could also require things that are not mandatory with your insurance company. I had to attend nutrition classes and a seminar.
