Good morning, Maria!

Those are wonderful celebrations.  Let me join you.

I celebrate the special time I get to spend with my doggie while we exercise together on our morning runs.  We did this when she was a little puppy, but had stopped the past few years.  She's much happier now (as am I).

I celebrate feeling (mostly) satisfied in my life.  More satisfied than I can ever recall, which is huge.

I celebrate feeling comfortable on an airplane and having lots of extra slack on those seatbelts.

I celebrate fitting much more comfortably into theater seats - turns out, they're quite comfy!  Who knew???

I celebrate being able to walk into a "normal" store and knowing that not only will they have clothes I can fit, I won't even be wearing the largest size.

I celebrate being able to feel bones I didn't even realize I had!  (Well, I knew I had them, just couldn't feel them to the touch.)  Ribs?  Thigh bones?  Hip bones?  What are those???

I celebrate not being the fattest one in the room.

I celebrate the conversations I get to have with people who begin to have hope that they, too, can approach their weight loss differently, if they consider the surgery that has been such a success for me.

Great post!!  Sometimes it is so good to stop and celebrate the differences in our lives now.  Thanks for reminding us of this.

I am celebrating:

Being able to go and help my parents for the last 2 days do a lot of physical work(painting, cleaning) - that I could have never held out to do before.

Being able to play with my DGD's - I would have sat on the couch and watched before.

Having so much more energy

Being so much happier within myself

Being more confident in myself

Off my CPAP and my diabetes medicine - hoping to get rid of the cholesterol meds soon

Knowing this weight will stay off this time if I do what I need to do.

Being able to get back on track when I mess up (alot easier than before)

Weighing less than my new drivers license has (I always weighed a lot more than I put on them)

Being the smallest female in my family instead of the largest!!!

Having a great support system here and at home.  Thank you all!!

Linda

When I read your post, I was so touched, but said, what do I have? I am so sad this morning, because my mother is sliding into dementia. Last night she couldn't remember what I did for work. When I told her, she said "Wendy did that". I guess she didn't know it was me, although I thought we were having a good phone conversation.

NOW, you helped me to see the good to celebrate:

I have my surgery date.

My therapist thinks I am ready and will succeed.

One of my dearest friends is getting married 11/6 and I will see lots of old friends (I mean old, we are all in our 60's) flying or driving to Santa Barbara, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Finally know I can get weight off and keep it off. Folded my summer clothes and said to them, next spring you go to the clothing exchange.

Ordered protein samples from Vitalady for preop diet.

Getting clear I don't have to justify my surgery to anyone.

Thanks for helping me focus on the positive!!!

Thanks, Linda, You are a great support. My mom is safe with my stepfather in a senior complex and can go to alzheimer's care if she needs it. Just hoping she can stay stable with good days and not so good days and stay with him.

This board really helps me. Can't wait to get my ticker and go!

Wendy, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you to have to watch your Mom slip away.  I guess all any of us can do is cherish the memories we have and seize any opportunity to make new ones.  Just remember your mom is incredibly blessed to have you and whether in the moment she knows you are her daughter or she thinks you're just a member of the staff or a good friend, you are still touching her and making her life a little better.  That is priceless.

All the best to you with your upcoming surgery.  Things are about to change dramatically and you'll never be the same.

(((hugs)))

Julie, I didn't know I had your reply to my question about your shake. Thank you so much. I never thought about the air mixed in by my blender. Where do I get the metal ball shaker for after surgery? Your shake sounds so yummy. I start my preop diet in 11 days, so excitement builds.

Your comments about my mother are kind and insightful. I know she has some knowledge of who I am, but your point about kindness struck home. I can serve anyone when I make a life better by saying something nice to a store clerk, opening a door, stopping to chat to a neighbor, things I think I don't have time for. All we really want is to be acknowledged. That's why I think this board is so positive.
